How wonderful...at what point does the fact that its against the law factor into the equation
This is a clear violation of the Rules of Equity but since its not a "problem" worth mentioning nobody talks about it.

its just unfortunate... this age "thing" actually exists everywhere. Its just more pronounced in some countries. I live in the UK and i know the likes of Goldman Sachs, BlackRock and other big banks and Financial services will not take you once you're over a certain age unless u have some experience and going in as experienced hire.
The good thing about the western world is that you can always fall back on another industry for similar job or something diff entirely. Thats where Nigeria has failed....once you dont get employed by the bank, the oil coys and the beverage n pharma coys then ure done for. It shdnt be like that.
Its only God that will help us in Nigeria.

Its true a lot of people lie about their age. But its certainly true that one can start education at the age of five. I am an example.

People lie and will continue to lie about their age because that is what the employers want. What is unfortunate about it all is that the same set of people the empolyers are claiming they don't want because of their age are the same set of people they eventually get when they must have doctor their age.SO WHO IS FOOLING WHO?.The unfortunate part of it is that some people can not doctor their age due to their belief.

What do we expect? a guy who finished school at the age of 30 to rust in frustration and anguish of regret why he ever attempted schooling? this non sense is not even giving a chance to people who made mistake earlier in life to make it right. no wonder our banks are in shambles with naive people in customer care centers. People will continue to lie about their age bcos they must get out of frustration and prejudice of the society who will see them as good for nothing people if they don't have a job. mothers even lie about the age of their kids from the nursery school so the computer data base will not read the correct age.he started primary at age 3, did it 4yrs, so at 7 he does secondary for 4yrs and at 11 he does university degree for 4yrs, now he is a graduate at the age of 15. who are we fooling? the age thing is a serious menace! I PRAY THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO GET TO WORK AGAINST THIS MENACE!

you can't blame job seekers for lying about their age. considering the consistent ASUU strikes in our universities and other problems affecting our edu sector making one to spend 7 years instead of normal 4-5yrs.

I think this whole issue is complicated. Job seekers needs the job badly so they can always lie to get as well as the job employers needs a new vibrant blood to handle their job and they will not want to employ old hands.
