I'm in, cos i know i'll benefit from it.
This makes sense oh!....
This will be a very hard case to sell. the constitution is not enforced in this country.
this is a welcome idea, i imagine the age of the employer when they got thier first job. am in support
most of these employers give an age limit thats practically unrealistic. i hope most of us saw the requirement for access bank recruitment. Bro, thanks alot for this info.
Imagine this kind of thing in this country, even we Nigerians are killing our ownselves! Even the employers are contributing to the unemployment rate in the country and at the same time, depriving us of our constitutional rights. I have nt realy read dat constitution very well and I thinks its high time i get started!
:cool:we must fight this ooo!!!
Count me in cos it is not affecting only we of this present generation who are unemployed. What about those that are coming behind us it high time we make one of the employees a scapegoat .
Yes,I support this cause. Why should someone who is qualified for a job be denied the opportunity to get the job simply because he/she is above the stipulated age?In this country of ours where the government of the day is not bothered about job creation, the employment field should be made a level playing ground for all qualified persons to get employed irrespective of their ages,After all, many of these companies are managed by Nigerians and aware of age cheats. Why the age limit? It's absolute nonsense.
I completely subscribe to this
yes oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooo
This cause is worth fighting for!
My name is Chioma and am an HR Officer. i also support this cause with my experience thus far in recurtiment i've found that gender is insigificant and it's all about the attitude and capacity of the personality in question. I have some vacancies on my web page but am not getting enough response hence i've been advice to post the vacancies on naijahot jobs follow the link below you might know someone who needs a job.
http://www.ilbagnonigeria.com/careertest_vacancies.php

For so long we have been suffering from this disease called NOT MORE THAN........... YEARS, and now, i believe it is high time we cured it. I thank you for this wake-up call and now we can't afford to slumber on achieving results through reasonable but radical means. Our voice must be heard and demands be met . :(
Put your date of birth or age on your CV in the UK and be sure you will not likely be shortlisted, I wonder why everything is different in Nigeria!!
Hello House this issue is a serious matter to deal with, but first the Govt. that u'll take ur case to are in the same as other. Take look at civil service rule, u'll see the age limit from 18yrs and not more than 50 yrs.
From the above, Are there not same with other employee???
:mad::cool:
Even if this great course is fought and eventually won and the prospective employers are restricted from placing age limit as part of their criteria, they can still successfully do without letting the applicants and the general public know because they owe no applicant any reason for not employing him/her. May God see us through. Amen.
We have to push for a body to monitor equal opportunity employment through the ministry of Labour. For example, in the UK all the employers ask applicants to fill the equal opportunity form for records purposes. This is used to report back to the regulatory authority.
House, can we see the below link as see if we can start the campaign with that employer.
http://www.oandoplc.com/wp-content/u...dvert_2011.jpg
i support this campaign.
We need to consult a human rights lawyer who can do it for us ex gracia. At least, if we win, the damages can go to him for his efforts. Let's meet on yahoo, facebook or Nimbuzz chat. [email protected], [email protected]. Let's trash this menace.
wahtevr gowz hop mast hop down. good work guyz!
Whoever is raising this issue should read the law very well. You should build your case on the Nigeria Labour law. An organisation can place restrictions on job positions if it can prove that performance will be enhanced by such restrictions. So, in Labour law, you have to prove your case beyond doubt that you have been discriminated against as a result of your age.
i agree the laws in this country are not enforced but the desperation of job seekers, who without deep thinking, signs off their destinies, make it difficult to enforce some laws.
For instance, the case of mistreatment by new Airtel Management and Outsourcing companies is one. My believe is that the HR professionals and practitioners should hold high the ethics of the profession.
This is a good development, so they expect everybody to be in the same age range in School and the Labour Market.???
I'm in support of this but how can we address it legally and have this practice stopped. Other countries don't do this. Thanks
The point is that Nigeria is a lawless country, the leaders treat the constitution like trash and even the enforcement agencies break the laws at will( recently BRT wahala involving a military officer). Please, tell me if the sales of the scratch cards by govt parastals is legal and constitutional(NAFDAC, NAVY, etc)? The fact is that the govt and multinational companies, not forgetting the indigenous companies are out to exploit the helpless youths of this great nation. After series of tests and interviews, WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT YOU WERE NOT SELECTED TO GO ON TO THE NEXT STAGE.....blah blah blah>:(
you are right my brother i hope this is the time for change
There is even a law against discrimination of age, sex & disability in UK. Is Nigerian economy doing better than UK's? Obviously NO! The discrimination against age in Nigeria must STOP 2day!
Less go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

This is a very gud observation. the only question is if this forum can provide someone with such influnce as to be able to make the house of assembly ( wether the lower house of rep or the house of senate), look into this issue and also to be able to carry out effective follow ups to make sure our very reliable legislative arm of government doesnt sleep over it as they do to several other important issues. Thumbs up to the poster.
u see, most people in top positions could afford to send their children to private schools from primary to university level.nd they will probably have a good result and graduated @ a very tender age. they thought other graduating @ higher ages are not serious without considering the educational system and other factors in the country.
