Senior Environmental Specialist: World Bank Nigeria

Position: Senior Environmental Specialist, GG
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Conditions: 2-Year Term Renewable, Locally Recruited

Selection Criteria:
- Master's degree in environmental management/engineering or a related field with solid experience in preparing environmental assessments, environmental management plans. Particularly in the context of infrastructure projects
- A minimum of at least eight years of relevant experience including, preferably, experience of working on strategic environmental issues related to infrastructure projects;
- In-depth knowledge of the Government of Nigeria's environment policies, regulatory framework, legislation on environmental impact assessments, and of the broader political economy.
- Extensive field-based experience, including the carrying out of baseline surveys and stakeholder consultations;
- Ability to analyze cross-sectoral issues with respect to environmental outcomes, within the broader framework of national development agenda;
- Familiarity with Bank's operational policies and procedures as they relate to environmental aspects of the World Bank's work would be an asset, but is not a requirement;
- Good diplomatic and analytical skills, with ability to work in a multicultural environment and an inter-disciplinary team.
- Good written and verbal communication in English and interpersonal skills with appropriate level of office information technology skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Nigeria, and on occasion to other countries.
