Job Description:
The Fiber Optics Technician is a member of a technical team producing advanced fiber-optics systems.

Your responsibilities will include the following:


  • Work in fiber optics lab under the guidance of scientist or engineer.
  • Assemble optical fiber lasers and amplifiers
  • Splice optical fibers, optimize splicing procedures of specialty fibers
  • Test fiber-optic components and systems and document results


Qualifications:


  • B.Eng/B.Tech in Civil Engineering, or an associate degree in optics/laser/electro-optics technology.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in fiber optics lasers, testing optical and electronic components.


Skills:


  • Ability to handle optical fibers and delicate optical components
  • Good manual dexterity and vision
  • Carry out fiber splicing, component and system level assembly
  • Ability to use electronic and optical equipment
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and schematics
  • Data entry skills
  • Good communication skills and team interaction



Key responsibilities:


  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Must be capable of handling a variety of responsibilities simultaneously while working under pressure or tight deadlines.
  • Must be skilled in all classes of fiber optic terminations; testing and troubleshooting; system repair; fusion and mechanical splicing; fiber optic cable mapping; and fiber optic plant inspection.
  • Position may require 60% travel.
