Vacancy for a clearing & forwarding officer
Our client is into importation of different consumer products. As a result of expansion, there exists the vacancy for a Clearing & Forwarding Officer who would carry out the deliverables below;
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The candidate should be very conversant with tariff act, clearing and forwarding procedures, custom declaration and clearance of goods at Sea ports/Airports.
2. Manage customs documentation for clearing and forwarding.
3. Renewal of relevant licenses (should be conversant to the procedures)
4. Must be very conversant with custom laws, tariff schedules and classifications, Government rules, prohibited list of items for importation, import and export regulations and procedures, shipping procedures and documentations.
5. To get duty assessment in one day after Pre- Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) and rotation number is allotted.
6. To arrange cargo scanning within a day after terminal charges paid.
7. To clear consignment within 10 days from the date of receipt of Pre- Arrival Assessment
Report (PAAR).
8. To secure business of various exporters and importers and has the ability to forward and clear their consignments.
9. To negotiate best freight rates with the shipping line to cover the interest of clients.
10. To apply and get refunds (shipping & container deposits etc.)
11. To be able to organize fast track clearing for the group.
12. To prepare daily progress report and send to Head Office before close of the business.
13. Any other assignment that may be given from time to time by superior officers.
QUALIFICATION:
B.Sc or HND in Shipping Management / Business Administration.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE DESIRABLE:
Must be computer literate
Must have 4 – 5 year experience in similar field
Age should be within 25 – 40 years
Must have excellent customer service skills, good organizational and communication skills.
Must be conversant with all activities in shipping management but of priority is the clearing and forwarding which the expected candidate must have performed in a similar industry.
SALARY: N70, 000 – N85, 000 / Month
