want is best answer to this big question. assuming you are only seeking better job and it is not proper to condem your present employer in the in front of the prospective employer
just tell them you are in love with the job yoou are being interviewed for. you were doing the present job cos you have not gotten an oppurtunuty to work with them.
Be very honest with this question. You either want a new challenge and a better finacial package or a career development prospect you see about the new job. By this, you would have avoided the trap of talking bad of your employer
i strongly agree with stdavid. try not to talk about ur previous employer even if he was terrible. simply give reasons like u want a better finacial package or a more challengin job. be positive while saying this
Never bad mouth your employer no matter how pressed you are.Be honest as your desire like new challenges, better pay, prospects of career development.Sometimes, proximity is also a factor. You may also talk of a long desire to work with them and the invitation for the interview presents an opportunity to actualise that desire.Again, don't badmouth your employer.
i think i quite agree with the house never speak bad of your present employer, even if they are bad. simply, i want a big and fresh challenge that i so much desire
All in all, try as much not to say any negative thing about your present employer. Interviewers with this kind of question wants to know the kind of person you are, either foul mouthed or with a good sence of humour. Say, though your present job is great but you are looking forward to a more challenging job and for your career advancement.......

Nice response house,
You'd want a challenging atmosphere and good financial package are good enough reasons. Try not speak bad about the presont or previous employer.

I believe the respone on the need for a new and bigger challenge is a better answer.
Also the need for better remuneration is okay.

Re: why did you want to leave your present job? i miss a job cos of this.
Hi dude! Dat was a great mind opener to the house and also a challenging question dat one shud be careful while answering. Our responses are mind blowing. Thanks . :) I appreciate the idea. :) Lol
Well to me, i dont see this question as an opportunity to badmouth past employers or peers or talk about a failure of any sort. Any of these answers are acceptable: you were looking for a new challenge, your learning curve had flattened out in the previous job and you were looking for a new learning opportunity, the company or department were restructuring, you were ready to start something new after achieving your career goals at the previous company etc. Ideally one need to show that you are in a position where you are happy with past successes and ready to achieve even more pronounced successes and take larger strides forward in your career. one love olayiwola Bambeke

While we try and digest the answer given, we should also consider our disposition while saying it, you comportment counts a lot cos it could either mean you telling the truth or just answering another interview question, rmber these people have been in the industry for awhile and they are professionals in this field so they can tell when an individual is lying or telling the truth, so be convincing and let your body language carry the fact that you hold no grudge towards ur present employer and you're very professional in all your dealings.
Remain Blessed All.
One love house. I'm really inspired by your answers keep it up.
