pls u should form d habit of appreciating ur boss in words or to an extent of presenting gift to the person.always tell him or her that what his wearing fits him,his car is fine and other things like that

I advise the poster not to go that far in pleasing his/her boss. Some bosses [especially the males] might start developing some romantic thoughts towards the employee. I have seen it happen in my former company.

Be punctual

Be neat

Be accurate

Dont quarrel or fight

Reduce visitors that come to visit u

Be dependent

Work under less or no supervision

Aviod mistakes

Dont allow correction on the same assignment twice

Dont be loose with ur mouth (dont talk any how)

Be innovative

Be creative

Be transparent & honest

No matter what ur colleagues do or say just do ur best and dont allow urself to be mentioned among the gossips in the office

and lots more of such

... not by buying gifts and admiring him/her

I must say this categotically that it is not all boss that can be pleased. Some boss depend on the idea of odd staff have the final say even when the old egg are the one's stoping the progress/development of the organization. But nevertheless do all that Benita had mentioned earlier.

U dont have to ba a " kisser" to excel at your job.

All you have to do is show that you are competent and dedicated to your job.

You will earn their respect that way.

But if you start getting personal, they will start asking you for stupid personal favours like "please can you help me buy lunch at Iya Basira's canteen"
