    Re: please read me

i think yr right ,in fact i vie been wondering as well, but the thing i figured out is that most on line job recruitment for banks is for experienced level, i try to tell people when ever you see an online recruitment with the .."no of experience level section displayed its not for an entry level graduate, check out ..unionbank,first inland bank, fcmb, etc it is simple, its solely for experienced people,if a bank wants to recruit they will bring out a new portal for that ,for instance gtb is recruiting for entry level go to to portal and you will simply be convinced its for entry level only.
what am saying is that if the recruitment is not for entry level do not hope to be called upon if you don't have any experience, KABISH!!!

ntogha, I feel your pain and I share this concern of yours. I can imagine what it would be not to be invited for an aptitude test, not to even mention - interview.

Nonetheless, you may need to work on yourself. What are you doing doing wrong that is not paving attention close to your door step? How prepared are you in actually getting a job? What kind of CV do you have? How do you source for information?

Guy, frankly speaking, you need to connect to your spirit man. Prayer does alot.
Secondly, you need to prepare an eye-catching CV. Give it to people to scuitinize for you. When you submit a CV, thousands of others too are submitting, so its not only yours. The people shorlisting are also humans, so they could be intelligently creative. Therefore, make sure the CV is well arranged and not photocopied.

Thirdly, put your ears to the ground. Don't wait for Guardian and internet only. You may need do more gate-crashing, sometimes though. Ask your friends, wherever & whenever any test is being conducted.

Finally, be on the move. You may need to go drop the CV yourself at the offices. Also, you may need to ask someone in the company when it is likely they recruit.

While youre still waiting for the job, pls, do keep yourself busy. You may be doing something that will eventually turn out to be what the employer is looking for.

    I wish you luck.

The list is endless...but you can call me

    Ntogha and Uju,
Derfla has said it ALL but he dint put one thing that is important

DO NOT GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT CARRYING COPIES OF YOUR CV (Hard and soft copy preferably).

    IT MAKES THINGS ALOT EASIER.

All my strategy has been what Derfla mentioned plus some odas and @ least i can testify though i have not gotten any offer yet. i am on the brink of it now.

From March 7 last yr (end of NYSC Orientation in Obubra, Cross River) till this minute
I have written about 24 aptitude/skill test. failed only 3 times but I have only attended 6 interviews in 3 banks though i shun 1 bank interview in Calabar then coz of discharge. Yet i have not given up. So bros keep trying.

Pls dont desist from filling online resume whether banks or not. U may neva know when it will BE.
    All da best

    BE ENCOURAGED.

    BE ENCOURAGED.

I joined all_jobs_nigeria since 2004 (my penultimate year) and started buying Guradian on Tuesday since 2006 (final year), a cheaper alternative to that is http://tonyblu5..com/ and for those who have cheap internet access.

By God's grace and mercy, I have attended five final stages of interviews since then.

I have done four tests, including Total, Graduate fair & Standard Chartered). (Standard Chartered is presently recuiting and you too can take their online test).

I have faced and learnt to face sevral rejections particluarly from GTB, I once once rejected by CAIMS too before the second call up for interview so do not be down trodden by rejections. I had actually applied (by emails/website only) to all banks, most oil firms and engineering companies using a letter titled unsolicited application.

Several companies replied that they would get in touch with me when the need arise, one called me up for interview but the mail was lost in junks, most other keep mute while a few repond with mild rejection notes. An alternayive measure is to dispatch your CVs to relevant firms personally and do follow up after sometime. (I might try this or commission a courier firm to do this after my servcie year if I choose to change job).

You could also explore personal contacts, old school friends and senior colleagues. I must confess that I got my past jobs through information from company insiders to put in application though I had to take tests which I passed by God's Grace and favour.

I have also made working on my CVs a job on its own and i seek ways to develop the different versions weekly by reading postings in job and career sites. I once sent it for professional preview (to www.fullercv.com) and had a cousin in UK listen to necessary corrections via local phone and email the corrections to me. Yu can upload a well structured CV to sites of HR consulting firms in Nigeria (www.dmoz.org/Africa/Nigeria) then click employment.

Your CV is your first contact with prospective employers, I would enjoin you to do extra work on it. You may send me a copy for remodification and assistance in my little way if necessary.

Professional qualifications also boost chances of call ups, I do not have any now but I hope to get a few. Smoe come so cheap and handy other are difficult and costly to get buy. lay your hands on ones relevant to your descipline.

The grades also matter, those with Upper credit or 2.1 have greater call up chances hiwever do not be discourage read your GMAT very well so that you make the best of any of those invitations that is not grade specific. Moreover most leading firms have started down playing on grades, particular reference to last KPMG advert.

Finally, the issue of age. Most coys especially banks want to recruit very young fellows. So people do age cut to enhance call up ... I have got no comment on that. I however know that middle age applicants are at some advantage if they have substatial quality experience to compliment their age. My call up for Nextzon interview was particulary due to my middle age! Don't ask me how old! Ironically, almost all banks have failed to call me for test either because of age or because I am not through with my service year. BankPHB in particular would not take call anyone above 27 while KPMG insist on 26 years.

Above all, be prayerful and be hardworking too. Read for aptitude tests as though they werer final exams. Always do your research on any company that call you up either for tests or interviews. This site and many others give relevant information. Thanks to several thousands of Nigeria that make this happen.

Dear friend, I see you on top do not be discouraged. The bottom is too crowded we must to climb higher.

    Your fellow applicant,

    Madeonline,
I love ur courage and strategies. I salute you.
U remind of a colleague that wrote ETB test while we were doing our final year project 2yrs back in schl, he passed but eventually Otunba Mike Adenuga refused him the offer cos of NYSC discharge @ the final stage. That was the attitude i took to service year and it really paid up.

I started writing Aptitude test (IBplc) the following day i left orientation camp. The fact that i passed was enough encouragement for me to go on. Since then i have written different types of Apt tests and my experience keeps growing.

I believe if we ALL have a "Can do ATTITUDE", we will go far in this quest for a Golden Treasure.

Wish ALL non-employed graduates in Nigeria success in their endeavours.
