Re: Age falsification and job seekers
Hen....................... All this noise about age falsification......... I mean this is Nigeria where anything goes. The system is not good and there is no proper documentation about the people living in Nigeria. To make thing worse, due process is thrown to the dogs. And there you have an educational system that has been bastardized with strikes, lack of qualified manpower,no books, research materials, funds for fixing, maintaining and working on the educational sector, what more a system where the leaders do not care what happen to the next generation of youths that are coming up in the system.
So if the delays in National Youth Service,Graduating,Entering the University/Polytechnic,Writing WAEC/NECO etc and with low productive ration with regards to education.............. you can imagine how the system has turned The Nigerian youths from being good to being bad. Though,it is bad............ but when you look at the leadership and those that are supposed to be role models for this kids, you will find of that they themselves are involved in it. The system need to be cleaned and the records set straight and other ways must be provided for graduates to get employed, if we are to have a system where people do not falsify their age.

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
maleck, u r right. i suggest we eliminate all the political crminals, besides, farida waziri is not good 4 that job. she is 1 of them. we better look 4 a youth that has not stolen b4 2 do that job, and i an do that job (efcc) without asking 4 salary. i will probe all from 1960, even posthumously so that we can v role models 4 our youths. tell them that age is a number, what matters is what u v upstairs.

The issue of Age falsificate in nigeria has started right from independence.if our so call leaders want us 2 falsify our ages in order 2 get a job ;knowing fully well that ones only means of survival depends on it, then so be it.but i think its not right.

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
There's no excuse for age falsification. If the employers of labour say they want young blood, and all the applications they get are of people who use their right age, they'll get fed up and do the right thg by putting age aside. Let us remember that it's not how far, but how well that matters. That the system is bad is no excuse for us to keep going bad along with it. Besides, if you lie about your age, it'll surely catch up with u one way or another. Let us prove by our actions that we want thgs to be right in this nation.
-
Re: Age falsification and job seekers
It's all unfortunate. falsifying age or no falsifying, it all started from the top. Bank manager that will say age limit 26, 27, 28 how old were them when they were employed. They should change it if not tis is just the beginning of it.
-
Re: Age falsification and job seekers
What would anybody in this useless country do if there is no job that will provide food on the table for him. The recruiting companies are not making matters better either, with their ridiculous age bracket and grade criteria. Only God will save us in this country of ours. Good luck House

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
sorry guys, but those of u saying that people should not falsify their age, i guess u are saying it based on the circumstance surrounding u and not that surrounding the people who are faced with the age problem.
life in nigeria is very very tough. to say that one should stay jobless because of age and suffer is not fair. falsifying ur age does not make u a sinner or bad person. the bankers who give age limit already know the situation in the country, they know that most people who apply with low age falsyfied it. the age thing is just a standard which is just theory and cannot be practical.
the bankers just feel comfortable with the knowlege that their workers are young, they dont mind if it is true or not. i believe these bank managers are intelligent enof to know that age is nothing but a number, they even know very well that most older youths are more knowledgeble and experienced that their younger counterparts.
please my advice to u all who have the problem is to just reduce ur age for ur sake and for ur country's sake.
u will not be fair and just to ur country, ur kids, those who need u and even ur self if because of age refuse to give the best of that unique thing u have in u. reducing ur age does not change ur real age, every body knows, so please allow the country to feel what u have for us, let age not hinder u. cheers.

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
Guys, the fact remains that the system is bad. Everybody knows this. Right from the top to the bottom, age falsification has been in existence.
Most of our political leaders falsify their ages to get political appointments and even go as far as doing this to spend a longer time in service. Footballers also do the same. People that are as old as my Uncle would simply say the are under 20; the age of my younger brother. This is just in an attempt to fit into the demands of the time.
But in the real sense of it, there is really no excuse for forgery. Everybody knows that the system is bad but I strongly believe that for the fact that you did not just drop form nowhere, you were made by somebody; the almighty creator, there is no cause for alarm.
See God (Allah) cannot teach you how to swim so that you get drowned when you start swimming. He knows that you were going to be born at the time you were born. If you falsify you age all in the name of the economy you are simply saying you were born by a mistake. That you were not supposed to be born at the time you were born. Maybe God should have delayed you for a while in the womb.
This age thing is simply a plot to reduce the number of applicants in these companies. Guys, lets not just do things for the sake of the present. Lets consider the fact that our children would be part of tomorrow. They would fall victims of your mstakes and manuevre. Besides, do you think that the job you are falsifying you age for is the best you can ever have? What if you falsify your age and do not get the job or you get the job, work there for a while with an intention of moving into a better company and then someone from nowhere just says you are really too young for the new job. It can happen in cases where Nemesis wants catch up with one.
Let us not say 'if we can't beat them, join them'. The fact that the majority chooses to be treacherous and deceptive, does not make deception good. Let us not attach too much importance to this age thing as if it is the major determinent of you getting a job.
I can outrightly tell you[b]'your age, in no way has nothing to do with the nature of job you would get or your success in the job'. Man when it is your time, it is your time and nothing, either cherubic or devilish can stop it.[/b
Men, the best is still to come. Hold on patiently for it. I have personal experiences I mey not be able to share. All I know is, wait for it so that it doesn't meet your abscence when it comes. We are the future generation. We have to change ourselves from the inside and see how your outside would change.
All the things we die for are all vanity. Let us seek God first and turn from our wicked ways and see if God would not bless us
I also strongly

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
no b our fort jooo. why smbody go kno say niger guys dey look 4 job come say age limit. govt beta do smthing about it.

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
Personally i don't blame the employers for being strict about age limit. It's all the question of demand and supply.Gone were the days when the employers used to run after prospective graduates in our higher institutions in search of workers regardless of any shortcoming be it age or grade level. I'm talking about nigeria before 1982(prior to recession period). Then, a final year students could have say 6 appointment letters even before graduation. However the reverse is the case nowadays when the number of unemployed youth has risen. We now run after them. So they can treat us the way they like. What pains me most is that the government that is supposed to come to the aid of the unemployed youth through the promulgation of antitrust laws (especially about age hinderance) govering the activities(in this case recruitment) of the employers fails to do so. Government parastatals even do add age limit not to talk of private. Though many hate it, we just have to do it. Age falsification is inevitable. Sincerely!!!

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
This post has generated alot of reaction from different angles. At least 90% of the post i recently read on this post supported age falsefication.
What is age falsefication? it is a criminal offense punishable by law not only in this country but also in foreign country if one is caught.
Telling lies about your age, is like selling out your birthright, there is always a pain attached to it, consciously or unconsciously bearing about.
There is no doubt that the country that is fallen will rise very soon, let's not paint the nation as if we are the worst people on earth.
Nigerians are the most wonderful people on earth.
Stop age falsefication now, if you dont want nemesis to catch up with you.
I still have my 50% start up capital to be given to you if order for my info kit for just 1,000Naira, get to [email protected] and order for your own copy.
Bless you is my prayer.

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
I DON'T THINK (HOUSE) THAT IT IS AN IDEAL THING TO FALSIFY OUR AGE IN-ORDER TO IMPRESS OUR SO CALLED EMPLOYEES. WAT I BELEIVE IS DAT ANY JOB DAT IS MEANT FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT AGE YOU RIGHTLY ARE, U'LL SURELY GET IT. ALSO, I THINK THAT DESPITE THE FACT DAT MOST OF US SPENT YEARS EITHER B4 ADMISSION OR NYSC OR EVEN B4 THINKING OF GETTING A JOB, DOES NOT REALLY KNOW WAT ACTUALLY WE ARE LOOKING FOR, WE DON'T KNOW WAT WE CAN ACTUALLY DO PERFECTLY WELL. WAT WERE U MADE FOR, WAT CAN U DO BEST. PUT UR BESTALSO IN IMPROVING NO MATTER HOW SLOW. BELEIVE ME, U'LL SEE THOSE RUN AWAY JOBS JUMBING INTO UR WAY. THANKS.
I LUV U ALL. (FOOD FOR THOUGHT) :) :)

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
na you know. when all they want is not more than 28 in this naija, they should expect more than age falsification people now .................................................. ............... it just a pity cos it a sin
-
Re: Age falsification and job seekers
this issue is a very sensitive one. its an individual matter, going by what is going one in the country today< I wouldn't blame any body for age falsification.
Our leaders also do not declare there real age in order to remain in service. or what would you say to that?
-
Re: Age falsification and job seekers
age falsification is not good but considering the situation in the country i would advice anyone to do whatever his or her mind tells him or her to do.
-
Re: Age falsification and job seekers
As we continue to falsify our ages, b/c of job, let us also remember that we shall give account to our Creator at the judgement day. Some day, sometime, we meet our Creator again.

I ve bn following comments frm diff housemates n its interesting 2 knw dat many believe in their due time. My fear is this: Those of us dat believe in falsification, there is politics in the place of work. Ppl ve ur data. Wen u need d job most, sum1 may come up n stab u. Ve we 4got d guys frm d NASS n many others?
Satan has no witness but listen 2 voice of reasoning cos one day u ll b saying its d devil.
We ve got 2 save ur generation n secure d generations after us.
Dat many participate in a vice does not make it a virtue. B warned!!!

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
Well… well…well… I want to thank all those who dropped their comments so far.The reason why I brought up this issue is that it has been biting the minds of many pple and they are willing to pour their minds to pple and this is a good avenue to do this .This is a lovely site wia we can share ideas and not necessarily impose ours on others.Dats the lvly thing about this site. It is a very sensitive issue and u will not ow it feels until it actually happens to U. Now………to falsify……or not falsify ones age is really a matter of ones conscience. Let’s analyze it critically……. It is actually so tempting to falsify ones age when u really experience the rejection of employers from getting plum jobs and all that and thinking about the Nigeria situation will also want to make say :ABEG I NO SEND OJARE….. AT LEAST OTHERS ARE DOING IT AND THEY GET AWAY WITH IT SO WHY CAN’T I DO AND GET A JOB TOO….AT LEAST IF U CAN’T BEAT THEM…. JOIN THEM. Hey****……. Guess wat, dat the typical way a Nigeria youth will think. The society has forced the youths to think that way and then…….behave that way. But wait a minute, wat a we talking about here,…Do we say bcos of the Nigeria situation …. And others are doing it , does it make it rite? Think about it. The leaders are doing it ….so…..does it make it rite? ….It’s true that the economy is bad and employers are demanding ridiculous age brackets cos as some of them say: Its company policy, that if private Universities are churning graduates at ages 21,22,23,24s…..,then they will get young blood to work for them. They av forgotten those ones that attended Govt Universities and Polytechnics who are brains and materials for them to tap. They av forgotten that if they keep doing this,….they are breeding liars,…they are breeding thieves. Look this is Nigeria and youths will always find a way out of their problems and the only way some know how to do it is FALSIFY THAT AGE AND GET THAT JOB. But the truth I must let everyone know is that is as much as the Naija case does not encourage honesty, that doesn’t mean dishonesty is good. The issue is really a case of morality. The moral laws as stated in the Bible and Koran is very clear. Am very happy that a Muslim (Frakkuba) and a Christian (Erioluwat) both have one voice on this issue. If u know u av a GOD that directs the affairs of men and will surely direct u to the right job at the right time, THEN….. BE HONEST AND KEEP A CLEAN CONSCIENCE…………..but if not……na u know …do wat u like. BUT REMEMBER….IN THE DAY OF DISTRESS,IF U SHOW YOURSELF DISCOURAGED..,UR POWERS WILL BE FEW(Prov 24:10) Am not a pastor O… but I really believe in the bible and I know God is real and he directs the affairs of men i.e those that allow their lives to be directed by him. So, enough said, the ball is now is ur court.Be good.Don’t think like an ordinary Nigerian.Think like someone distinct and different.God is not asleep,he will surely give u ur job at the rite time in the rite place, and even make U the proud owner of ur own COMPANY one day if so desire. If companies reject U bcos of ur age, then they are not good enough for u.U are better than dat job and the job that fits u soon come. So……TO falsify…..or not to falsify…….CHOOSE UR LIFE.
Just keeping it real.
Keep the reactions coming in. They are needed.

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
That the system is bad can't make it right anyway. Those that know their God will be strong and do exploit. JACOB realized that how he obtained the blessing was not divine.precisely, that may not be the original plan. The consequence was 'struggling'.I felt for him.Do you want to help God to help you.
Those that put their trust in GOD are like mount Zion.READ Ezra 1 ; 1 -4
He can still part this red sea before us.Trust HIM .INn all your ways acknowledge Him ,He will direct your path.Don't depend on your own understanding.BANKING ,for instance, is not the best job so far.
The worst is that your are not praying for yourself at least.
In summary, God's way is always the best way.DON'T JOIN THEM.
-
Re: Age falsification and job seekers
Stupid question deserve stupid answer.if they ask for age that is ridiculous,we'll give them ridiculous answer.
those hu are against it,i dont blame u,how can u undrstand, wen u r not inthe situation.you dont know where it pinches .imagine yourself struggling to finish skul and then b told u cant get work bcos of age, meanwhile u r very hard working, and can even b a jackass if need b,but bcos of age,u r stranded and worst still if u av junior ones behind u.
laurelc, eriolowat, etc u cant understand.wats ur age, just the age they all want.u've got no probs so u can say anything u want.
and i pray u wouldnt have to xperience it to understand.amen
do wateva it takes in naija to survive.GOD DEY

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
yes i want to add my own opinion, i read what all u gays wrote and i am impressed but someone said one should wait 4 d right job 2 come, the question is when will d right job come, all who do not have d reguired age should do it and get a job because it is what will place u in the society.PS it is not the age it is the spirit. 8)

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
it is very sad that those who dont support age falsification, have got no solution except to tell people who are going through hell in a state of joblessness to wait for the right job.
if God will punish innocent, optionless jobseekers for age falsification i wonder what wil happen to those who cause them to falsify their ages(employees)
look, we are all selfish beings, the employer does not care weather thousands are joless or not, they just care about their organization, then why should we care if we give them the rigth age or not? we are also selfish and all we need is job!
the case of age is not a matter of wrong or right, its a matter of life and death, a matter of getting what u want. i have two elder brothers(very intelligent guys) who lost jobs becos of age. my parents are getting old, and somebody is out there tellin me to wait for the right job, as if the date for and name of this right job is written somewhere, yet this same people will tell u that life is what u make of it.
if life is what u make of it then why should a reasonable person come out there to tell us to wait for the right job!!!!
finnally, it saddens me that in between the lines of the statments made by age falsification opposers, they seem to unconciously put more blame on age falsifiers instead of employees.
well, if u see ur self in this tight shoe, i dont believe u will sit down and wait for the right age to come.
the question is: does falsifying our age make us work less better? does falsyfying age also implies falsyfying ur ability to give ur best? NO
how many job accept undergaraduate who are lass than lets say 30, not even 28? VERY FEW OR NONE
then what is the right job? the right job is the job u finally get after ur struggling- getting it without age falsification does not make it the right job!!!!!!!!!

Re: Age falsification and job seekers
:D Well, well, Mr Chikodi.I'm so sorry for the experience of ur broders.TO tell u the truth, I was also affected by this tin.U av said a lot dat bring smiles to my face but U seem to av 4gotten dat someone created U and he didn't create U 4 nothing.I'm not gonna say much cos a lot has been said. But know this, ;DAT FORGETS HIS GOD,HE GOD WILL NOT STILL 4GET HIM.Wat we do with our life today has immense effect on the value of our life 2morrow.NOw the ball is in ur court.Choose ur LIfe .Just Keepn it real. ;D ;D :D :D
