Department: Projects & Engineering
Job Title: workshop interns (Spiders)
Business Objective: To assist the welders and engineers and ensure that each workshop department gets their work materials in a timely manner. Core Working Relationships: Project Managers, Welding & Fabrication Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor, Welders, Engineers
Accountabilities (Responsibilities)
· To prepare work materials as allocated for the daily sessions.
· To ensure all relevant materials and equipment are prepared for any particular area of work.
· Operate small cranes and lifts to move equipment, parts and materials around the workshop to the different users in a timely manner.
· To assist machine operators and engineers in undertaking any particular aspect of the production process.
· Read and understand work orders, routing schedules and material/machines labels.
· Maintaining safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures: complying with legal regulations.
· Assist with machinery set up by gathering tools and materials required by machinist and engineers.
· Organize stock and maintain inventory to ensure necessary materials and supplies are available.
· Oiling and cleaning machinery and parts.
Requirements · A good OND/HND in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable institution.
· Minimum of 1 year experience in similar role.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Very good knowledge of the use of AutoCAD
· Very good knowledge of the M.S Office suite (especially word, excel and PowerPoint)
· Excellent writing skills.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Proactive (ability to think and take initiative) and must have problem solving skills.
· Ability to work under pressure
