Urgent: Please I need your advice
Dear Naijahotjobbers, please I
need you candid advice. I
have an offer into a UK
university. I already paid
£2000 as tuition deposit
before I was issued a CAS, I
have a £500 scholarship, I
have paid accomodation
deposit of £300 and other
little expenses.
I have received a message
that my visa has been
processed, I will go pick it
up next week. Will it be
advisable for me to book
my flight ticket after
collecting the package
considering the fact that I
am also awaiting the
decision of NNPC
recruitment after being
interviewed last month.
The only condition I can
get a refund of some of
the fees is only if I am
denied a visa. If I don't
book my ticket now till
NNPC recruitment process
ends, the price will be
higher. I have less than
two weeks to start the
program.
I will be granted leave by
my employer. Please I
need your advice. Thank
you. I will be granted leave
by my employer. Please I
need your advice. Thank
you.

Re: Urgent: Please I need your advice
I would advise you carry on with your MSc program. Concerning the NNPC stuff, I would suggest you do not count your chickens before they hatch. Buy your ticket and proceed for your MSc. If eventually you get called for the job, you can forfeit the expenses already incurred and take up the job. You would recuperate this in no time with your NNPC job. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush...
Re: Urgent: Please I need your advice
Study leave just doesn't come that easy, you ought to have worked for the Company for a period of time (say two years or more) before you can be granted such and mind you for an organization like NNPC, your job may not be guaranteed.
Re: Urgent: Please I need your advice
@EON DIGEST and bloodycorper, thanks a million for your advice. The advice was really insightful, I appreciate. Remain blessed.
Re: Urgent: Please I need your advice
What is your motivation for going for masters in the first place? What is your ultimate career goal? I think by the time you put all these into consideration, you will easily arrive at a decision. I was told by a friend of someone who left one of the major oil companies in Nigeria to further his studies abroad. Everything point to your ultimate career goal. What if you are unable to make the NNPC recruitment? What if after your masters, you dont get another job quickly? Put everything into proper consideration and go for the one that will make you fulfill. Most importantly, commit it to God in prayers. It is well.
Re: Urgent: Please I need your advice
@uefosa, thanks for your advice. It is well appreciated. The reason I am going for the program is to acquire skills that will make me more relevant to the society. After undertaking my program, I can set up a venture of my own with the profession. I am currently employed by the federal government and will be gainfully employed after my program. Thank a lot.
Re: Urgent: Please I need your advice
My man, u should expect to sacrifice some things (money). Since u will also hav ur return ticket, i suggest u go 4 ur msc and keep ur ears on d ground. Whenever they call u, u can defer d admission or even abandon it. Msc abroad does nt give u any guarantee to get job easily in naija. I hav a friend who has an msc 4rm london who is stil lookin 4 a job. Pls dnt miss dis opportunity 2 be a part of the hottest employers (NNPC). My man, u dnt even need advice in this case. Dont u knw dat pple study abroad so dat they can easily get job in this oil companies and here u are worrying over nothing
