@kalatex, I rly dnt know wat u talking about,but I got my info from the Secretary to The Sub Dean of Post Graduate Studies Unilag.And what they need for Ph.d in Unilag is 4.0 and 3.5 for M.phil,then u switch over.
I jst finished my 1st semester exams and. Haven't given them my transcript yet.
I dnt knw of other schools sha.
I am not talking about getting info but facts.
Mphil is half of PHD.
In my dept.,u present 4 seminars for PHD.u present 2 for Mphil
for Mphil.
U write a letter to the dean of postgraduate sch thru ur HOD
that u want to continue to PHD.
I am about starting my PHD and so I have these facts.
It is not easy to make 3.0 in M.Sc but u can easily make 5.0 in professional masters becos they are considered d cash cow of d university.
For this current intake of computer sc., only 25 people made it but over 150 made MIT list.

Also heard dat their is no particular time for admission in2 ph.d or M.phil.It all depend of wen the student is rdy.
@oando,if u make a 3.4 CGPA in ur M.Sc. and u have a 2.1 in ur B.Sc., u can still get Mphil admission in UNILAG.u do 2 seminars and write to the PG school for an upgrade to PHD where u will do additional 2 seminars to earn ur PHD.Quote:

@Kalatex, just post what you know and sure of and leave the rest.UNILAG accepts 3.5 for Ph.D, good! Who told you that other universities all accept below 3.5 or 3.0? Most Federal universities have 3.5 as standard point except state universities. Meanwhile, anybody that want to do Ph.D in any school, go to the school and verify, it always varies
UI-3.5,Mphil is 3.0
FUTA-3.5 or B average of 60%,Mphil is 3.0 or Average of 55%
UNILORIN - B average of 60%,Mphil is 3.0 or Average of 55%
it varies but averagely 3.5 for PHD and 3.0 for Mphil
