Pls, can any1 help with aptitude test materials for TOTAL? I just got an invite "Invitation for Aptitude Test - Installation Umbilical Flow Riser Engineer" for an application I sent in long time ago this year. Expect urs if u also applied for this or any one of them advertised then.

You applied for this job sometime in Match which is not quite long considering the fact that people have been waiting for Total since May last year all the same congratulations.
The test format for the aptitude is shl.The material which I beleive you can download from this forum.The professional test will be set by the department you are entering. The test last for 18mins English and 20mins maths. the professional test is usually negative marking and will be related to your discipline. for more info go to Total Structred Interview through this link

Thnx IOB... I was invited for the UFR one. I just want to have an idea of those would be like. If it is based on what I think it would be, it would either be too easy or too hard. I know a bit about doing calculations for risers and subsea pipelines and umbilicals. These things are not 2 line calculations that are usually solved in an aptitude test setting where speed and quick answers are what they want. So its a bit confusing for me as to what to prepare for. I don't want to over prepare and leave out the tiny details or under prepare if you know what I mean..Quote:

@donugapi... I'm equally confused as u r. My guy told me he faced simple questions on subsea integrity last year when he wrote but in 2007 he encountered a bit more probing riser questions.
@coolguy....The test is billed for 20th August in their office here in Port Harcourt.

Got my invite around the same time too. Test is the same day, but mine is in Lagos.
Please guys, any further hints will be welcome as you get to know more. These things are quite wide. It will be helpful to know what to zero in on.
Besides, the invitation says aptitude test. Is it possible to do a skill test on the same day?

well the aptitude test comes first after which you will have a short break (refreshment) and then you will proceed for the professional test. It is usually objective and theory testing what you know. In the theory you may be asked to write on a particular topic.However if you know the field very well you would have any problem the main problem will be aptitude because you would finish verything usually you will only do half of them unless you are exceptional.

@sigtquest, @iob could you guys please let me know if ur invitation was based upon you applying for a position earlier before the call (cause I could see UFR,HSE) or was it that u never applied for positions but have (U) been shortlisted just because U omly submitted ur CV on their site cause I as well have my CV submitted on their site, though I have never applied for any position.

The invitation was based on an application for that particular position. Earlier this year around March I think.

Are U a geoscientist? If yes, moreso, U seem to have written this test precisely for the geoscientist once B4.
Could U please enlighten me on wat aspect(s)/topic(s) of Geology one should brush on to excel in the professional aspect of the test.
