Technical buyer

Our client a multinational food and beverage company with factories across Nigeria in need of qualified candidates to fill the position of:
TECHNICAL BUYER
SUMMARY OF JOB ROLE:
• To place purchase orders for parts as required and to provide technical decisions in support of materials purchased
• To review the MRP system demand and place purchase orders
• To place items on Kanban with suppliers, reviewing demand and lead time to ensure stock is kept to a minimum
• To make Technical decisions in response to information requested by and both suppliers and internal departments
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interface with suppliers to achieve targets and objectives
• Review data to make decisions on items to put on Kanban, setting up internal systems to deal with the demand triggers.
• Proactively negotiating with suppliers to ensure that price and delivery is met
• Meeting targets for items on Kanban, price and delivery
• Making decisions on alternative supply of materials if required
• Keeping costs down by managing the product purchasing in an efficient way
• Visiting suppliers to assess capabilities, both current and prospective alternatives
• Plan and procure materials from approved suppliers to support achievement of production plan in line with agreed timelines.

Key Performance Indicators:
• On Time Delivery
• Number of items on Kanban
• Stock per budget
• PPV (Positive predictive value) Competence
Qualifications and Experience
• Should be able to identify original technical parts
• qualified by experience
• Good problem solving
• 1-3 years relevant experience in a similar role
• B.SC/HND in engineering or related fields.
• Must be conversant with one or two stock management software.
• Be conscious of cost savings and getting the right quality.
