Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
Pls. house, what are the requirements for this Shell Job (SITP 2010)
is there anything like:
- AGE - restriction? (often the case with other job ads)
Degree and Grade restriction (first class, 2:1, 2:2, 3rd-dy or let my people go<pass> )?
O' level (one sitting, two sitting or all A's)?
or is there any other special info one should know about this ad.?

Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
Ufuoma77, Kau, Enigmani and U that hv successfully submited application,
is it still possible to apply?
I followed the steps by "Kau" and it has not worked for me. kindly check to see if it is still open.
I applied for the last SITP in 2008, could this be the reason the site keep saying no available vacancy?
U guys should say something!
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
Shell always advertises in National Dailies for their SITP programme. Presently, they have not advertised anything so i wonder why most people here are saying they are recruiting.
U can simply go to their website and fill in ur details (unsolicited application) but that doesnt mean they are recruiting now.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
Yes, I am sure they are recruiting,
maybe Greatdon is right, it has closed !!!
I prayed they re-open it again and soonest.
I received an sms from shell on the 30th march directing me to apply.
maybe, I didnt respond early enough

Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@oilprince, i dont think u got the procedure right. U only need to get to the Africa section of the site shell.com/careers. Then u are made to login(if u ve an acct already) or register and then login. On getting to the application. CLick on the submit application. Then it will direct u to the search page which shld give u the local opportunities option.
@lenski5a, listen carefully i applied on 23/03/2010 and got a shortlisted status on the same site. So i wont come here to post wat i didnt do.
As concerns closure, i dont think it has closed, cos i got a mail from an informant which states, 8/04/2010... so check and make sure u do the ryt thing....
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@ufouma pls i hav been havin probs wen i get 2 the africa section they tell me there ar no vacancies in this area.may i am not doin the rite thing can u pls direct me.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@chestopikolo, after the africa section it is supposed to direct u to where u will ve to login to continue. That login (i think automatically it knows ur registered country) shld make u get a chance to submit application which shld give u d local opportunities option...
House really this procedure is not that difficult. I wonder why every1 is having a problem do this registration. Maybe then, the application has closed. Otherwise i cant seem to understand the difficulty... ???

- my answer was No
2, are u pursuing a B.Sc, M.Sc ... or do u hold one of these degrees?
- ticked Yes

_ answered No
on clicking next, the below came out..

Ufuoma77, if u wont mind,

the outcome will be useful !!!

Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@Ufuoma, I'm not saying u didnt apply (cos I personally know people who have applied), all I was trying to explain was that shell has not advertised any vacancy hence I suspect the application is just an unsolicited one.
I tried applying (even b4 the march 31st deadline which some people talked about) but it kept saying "no vacancy" so I guess, i was just unlucky.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
yes, oilprize, allthese are wanted in the shell advert.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@house, i think this opening is for ppl who hail from either Bayelsa, Delta or Rivers. I think it is an internal recruitment, otherwise why should ppl be having untold difficulty. But as for application i know of at least 3 colleagues who are from the south west that had their application submitted successfully.
Maybe the application only lasted a week bcos prior to my application submission on 23/03/2010 i ve always had that problem u are all complaining of. So i think i will jst say it is quite unfortunate it pans out this way.

Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@lenski5a!
There is graduate recruitment actually going on in Shell but if it is SITP is what I really don't understand Shell normally.
The information was passed by Shell staffs themselves.
To make it even more convincing is the fact there was a column for local application.
I don't know what this actually is I fold my hands sida dey look.
And e be like say the thing don close oooo.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
oilprince u are completely right coz i hv tried all i can but it kept saying that each time i do it. i wonder y its like that coz i heard its suppose to be open till april 8th.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
not sure if the application actually closed that 31st
friends in UK confirmed sending their applications around 3rd and 4th April
I received another email on Tuesday 6th April from a Shell Staff, also directing me to apply online
I called the No. in the e-mail and complained about our inability to apply online. unfortunately, He too
was directed by the COY to inform graduates from Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa
I applied today 8th, using "United Kingdom" as my current country of resident
on the eligibility page
since using "Nigeria" will take u to a dead end
however,
I used my NIGERIAN ADDRESSES to fill the required application pages
my status is "New application" a mail was also sent to my email box with reference number
be warned!!!
U may get error messages along the process,
just hit your backspace button on your keyboard and continue
U can probably still use this Smart back door to enter
as for me
I have nothing to loose
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
My status has Changed to "Application Received"
By the Special Grace of God it will become Shortlisted, and there after
congratulation You are employed
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@OilPrince: i will paint a scenario for you, wat if u re then shortlisted considerin d fact that they myt not look at your house address but your qualification. Then wat? Will you fly to the UK for your interview or Test.... Was Jst pondering over it... Think it thru bro. I lyk the spirit tho.....
As for all those that had difficulty i share in your pain. But lyk i said in d other thread. This is not the traditional SITP i blv, it Shld come up later. But i 'll try to confirm from a friend at Shell wat exactly they re up to since the only advert for this opening was among shell staffs.
Peace to All Hearts

Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
hi ufoma77 please i need to clarify two things. first i got an SMS from a friend that shell was recriuting graduates from delta, bayelsa and rivers states and that its for graduates between 2005-2009 also the mail u just got from a colleague in shell also states that its for graduates btw 2005-2009 am not clear if the advert from shell concerns niger deltans.
nevertheless i applied on the 31st march and it still shows apllication received.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@obynzo: the only thing i can confirm is that NigerDeltans seem to be given a greater privilege but i think ppl from other region with appropriate qualification(graduating year, graduating grade, and not applying to SHELL in 2yrs time space) stand a chance as well. Its all my personal blv. Even my friend at shell is not completely in the KNOW as concerns the way this all have panned out... Hope that helped
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@Ufuoma77, like I said, Nothing to loose,
to me, is better to "take dat chance"
I am a believer,
I think shell consider and uses addresses of applicants expecially to give transportation bonus.
but whatever the case, it is in God's hand now!!!
thank u so very much
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@ oilprince, are u sure u did d right thing/
go to www.shell.com/careers
click on job & careers
under students & graduates
click on Shell Recruitment Day
Click on Apply Now
A link pops up and asks for the region
Click on Africa
Then u will have to verify ur Email NOTE: if u ve applied for Shell before, ur application won't be accepted, all u need do is open a new Email do their verification.
You then click on registration and go on from there.
give me feedback of the good news.
have a nice day.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@ Oilprince: I did the same thing you did on the 10th of April, my status now states application received.
@ House: I changed my country of residence from Uk to Nigeria on the application page and used my normal house address.
@ Ufuoma: I have been following all your threads, you're wonderful. Keep it up.
@granite: I suggest you still take your chances like Oilprince and I did.
-
Re: Shell Requirement? to be shortlisted
@Lugar, I think I did
I dont know about others, I actively tried submitting thru the right steps. i.e after the verification of email, and using Nigeria as my current country of resident, answering those yes and No question and clicking next, it only lead to "No opportunity"
using Naija became impossible as from 31 March
I decided to use Uk instead of Naija because UK was still going as at 8th April
One thing for sure, it is the same Delta, Bayelsa and rivers opportuninty
and na Only one Office go treat all application irrespective of where it came from
-
