Guy you are a mechanical engineer, why asking much qestion over this, please go to the industry where you will be relivant. Forget about that banking job for now.
My guy, forget 1st bank oh..banking job is like prison, no coming out..hit d road wit saipem, go take NDT training and wit time u will be exactly wher u wanna be
what's NDT training?
NDT: Non-Destructive Testing
so what does it entails? and how useful is it=
Abeg guys, does any one knows if BakerHughes pay for training allowance and if so how much and what benefits do you enjoy in your first year as a field specialist.
They always say this at the beginning. Trust me when you enter its a different ball game. When i was employed in a similar company recently they told me the same story. After one year of impressing them, they began to ask me if i was happy with my role or wanted to consider a more challenging one. Saipem.... All the way <wait o, where is that Intercontinental bank that almost derailed me sef????>

First Bank is the highest paying bank in Nigeria and the stress is the least. I have no idea about Saipem so can't say much about it.
First bank is one of the least stressed bank when compared o others Plus the pay is very enticing
but after careful consideration, I think Saipem will pay off for me in the long run.
so if I'm thinking if the future, its Saipem but present, Firstbank
but Saipem all the way
and thanks guys, you helped made the decision a little easier
@my Bros, you have made the right decision, I have being reading thru all comments in this tread.
As a procurement staff a time will come u will be among thr pillars in the firm. No pen or book or anything bought in that company that will not pass thru ur desk and you undstd want I mean by that. So stick to ur decision its a right one.
Goodluck bro.
@jethrovic--my guy yu made a wise choice by taking saipem..i read petroleum engineering and the 1st job i got was in bank, i had to resign after 3 years cs there was no job fulfilment. i had to take another job with a telecoms company. And for procurement department it is 'POWER MUST CHANGE HAND'' that is , if yu understand wha i mean.enuf side money for you wen yu sign a document for purchase of any item in the coy...;)
Hmmm, i am seeing plenty "if you know what i mean comments". My guy, please avoid office politics and insider trading o! Do your job with integrity. Congrat!
Jethro, why u nor tell me since na procurement role. Guy, jump first bank fast fast! Why are u dying to be in the field. Yoyu wanna work your youthful life out. Procurement role cut acrross every sector of the economy and business. An experience in a multinational company like saipem is a big lift to ur career. Procurement is almost same as logistics and supply chain role. It is very quanitatative in responsibility and engineers are known to do better there. In fact, it is a field of mechanical/industrial engineering! Do ur thing and if you happen to have study leave in the nearest future, come to CASS business school, Cranfield Management school or Warwick Business school or Lancaster Management School for your specialist MSc in that direction and watch your live grow in Marine field, Aircraft LOGISTICS, oil and gas logistics and host of others.Do you try to change your role from procurement to suffering engineering role who hardly attain management position( their work na routine na. LOL)
Now I'm really beaming.
With this, I will fuse management with engineering
i saw this too late but i hope it will guide your decision. I had always wanted to work in an oil company when i left school but that was not to be. i got job with a bank well paying one for that matter. after training school i was thrown to a branch to work as operations staff and this is a job anybody can do. i did it for 11+ years before being thrown out and i cant find a job that fits my experience and also the qualification i have does not fit my career path. presently i am having what is called mid career crisis. please even if they are paying you peanuts take the job that suits your qualification. you will rise with experience. my schoolmates that stuck to their career are well placed where they are because my career is highly sought.
Then for the police officer, i think he just wants to draw attention to himself. He has been advised on NNPC thread to pursue his career with NNPC but he is still going on and on. your NNPC job is in line with your qualification and you know that police does not have respect in this country because of their corruption and BOKO HARAM is after police officers. infact there is no comparism. once you have joined NNPC, you are in the oil sector. if you feel you are not paid well there you can leave after gaining experience there for another oil company. Mr police officer, your own tire me o.
Nyc one bro....i lyk ur advice to im,i hp he sticks to it.
