Petroleum Industry Bill
Pls house, I am sorry cos I know this is a job search website, but I think it directly affect us as youths looking for job. I want to ask why the National Assembly has totally refused to pass this bill, ever since it has been with them. What did they say was they setback or disadvantage in the passage of the bill and what wrong have we the youth done to them? Why can't they pass this bill that will create jobs, abi do they want us to protest they way Abuja women protested before they passed the National Health Bill? These people just want this country's money to shared within them. Well lets wait and see what the 7th senate will do. Please if there is any disadvantage in the passage of this Bill, let us know so that we can stop complaining as this thing is getting out of hand. Thanks

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
My brother, no be small matter o! I learnt that the PIB has been 'adulterated' alot. It now has many versions by different factions in circulation. The funny thing is that the IOCs that had been against its passage suddenly started pushing for it to be passed towards the end of the last dispensation. The questions now are;
why are the IOCs pushing for its passage?
Why cant the govt. release the 'version' of the bill to be passed for public scrutiny before its passage?
Does the version of the bill to be passed still protect the interest of the Nigerian people?
(sighs...) I wonder. Only God knows. And only Him can save us.

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
Only God know what these people are up to. This is an important bill that the NASS has toiled with and create investment and job opportunities in the petroleum industry, that these people negleted because their children and friends are well to do, leaving we ordinary citizens to continuing toiling because of the benefits they get from these oil multinationals. Then when their tenure was over they tried to pass the bill. Only God knows if the 7th senate will pass it. Lets still watch what is going to happen

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
Brothers it is only God that can Help us in this country I will urge all of us to always be on our knees.Remember this regime might be better. This PIB must be passed either hell wants it or not...One family
-
Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
The issue has gradually taken the back bench in the house. The version to be signed should be made available for public scrutiny before passage. An adulterated PIB as some ''groups'' are pushing for will not do us any good
-
Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
Thanks folks for bringing this to our notice, the matter of PIB is quite a complex one.A group called the SOCIAL ACTION recently urged NASS not to pass the bill into law reason being that"IT CONSIDERS THE REMOVAL OF THE CLAUSES ON GAS FLARE AS A MARK OF INSENSITIVITY TO THE PLIGHT OF THE NIGER DELTA,ON THE PART OF THE LAW MAKERS WHO ARE ACCUSED OF PROMOTING THE INTEREST OF MULTI-NATIONAL COMPANIES,WHO HAVE FAILED TO TAKE ACTION TO PUT AN END TO GAS FLARING.
SO you see my brother, that is the problem with the PIB .The earlier version of the PIB given to various stake holders and civil society organization clearly contained a clause which seeks to end gas flaring, was removed recently by the NASS.Hence the PIB is still being criticized and scrutinized.Lets hope they resolve the issue of gas flaring speedily.Cheers.

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
I know d effects of PIB will be felt by all (even job seekers),but make una leave Politics matter out of this forum, there are 100s of sites on d internet 4 dat.
This place shld be about career related issues. Its stuff lik dis dat can make folks withdraw 4rm dis forum.Cheers.

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
@Cipha, I am surprised at U, read my first comment, this is not abt politics, its about making people know the effect this PIB is having on us, the ordinary people looking for job and not them who are well to do. I know is a career related site. It is not still all about looking for a job, it is still trying to understand why the 6th largest oil producing country in the world is suffering from 70% unemployment rate. This Bill is a job generating means and we all are folding our hands hand watching those folks in the house, just sitting down and saying I and NAY and by the end of three months they smile to the bank with 42million naira in their pockets, where some graduates do not know the next means of survival. Look at the recent employment opportunities, how many people advertise for a position? U will see over 200,000 people applying for just about 10 positions, whereby the passage of this bill can generate like 20 to 30 thousand job and U think we should not complain sey? Well, they said the future of this country lies in our hands (youths), but I think the youths they are refering to here are their children, relatives and friends, who are abroad studying and by the time they are through with their studies, they are directly employed into Customs, NDLEA, FRSC etc. making some people still waste their money buy forms. Brother tell me is this not wickedness in disguise? I think we should sit up before some people of go insane here. Its your choice sha.All we do here is not to sit down and wait for either Shell or Chevron etc. that will advertise for about 5 positions then you can apply and write a test that you are not even sure of. My brother it is high time we settle down and think about our lives, we are not getting young, everyday that passes is very important to each and everyone of us. That is all I have to say, apply wisdom too in this job search. Take care

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
As a matter of fact, one of the IOC companies MD/CEO is someone very close to me..Not just close but by blood to a level..Back some years before this guy opted out from the old company he worked for as the number 2 man, he was accused of being too nationalistic ... He has been a very upright person in fairness to the host community that the company he works for should do what is right. However, he resigned and moved to another IOC company with quite a number of his... As a matter of fact there are other guys like him who have dominated many of the top ranks in many of this IOC companies. I suspect they've all floated many indiginous companies that are ready to go into exploration and production. One is already existing that I know very well but for security reasons, I wouldnt want to mention that company..Please pardon me for that.Though you can send me an email if you want to know this company. it's 100% Nigeria and they are doing just very fine. Such are the ones winning the bids so far that has been offered by one of the IOC companies sell their OMLs..It's our property, our wealth and someone has to start something before this IOC guys milks us to dryness.. Now it's more of a game plan to hijack the system from the IOC...Afterall, our guys are the one doing most of those jobs now and very few experts are needed. If any is needed, we would call on them and pay them off.It happens everywhere just like we have Nigerian experts abroad doing so too.Rather than keeping their here on a life time salary, we keep them on a special call if they are needed.. Our reps and senators are the problem as many of them are junks with little knowledge of the industry and even if they have to consult, who do they consult? The same guys who are the enemies of state......Mark my words..
-
Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
If you want to get the picture of what I am painting here..Click on the link below..So that you can see the game plans of the ICO companies(The western community) from the link if you read through, you would understand that those complaining about these gaps are Nigerians who understands deeply what this ICO guys are doing to keep us backward..Unfortunately it is affecting them too... Don't forget they all started as a junior staff with these companies and they are now matured in the system with their voice can't be trampled upon.....Does anyone know how long it took a black man to become Shell MD....?

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
@adexzy thanks very much. These people are just too wicked, wanting to get all they could get from our country and then run away. Well if anybody still need more information while this Bill should be passed, should google Petroleum Industry Bill in Nigeria and see a Bill that will generate over 200,000 jobs in our country in the next 3 to 4 years and not 20jobs these wicked IOC's offer to us, that make them feel they are doing something important in our lives. We should open our eyes, I am tired of applying for job and writing test, I don't know about others. Lets see what is going to happen when the 7th National Assembly resumes, I think we should sit up before these companies milk us dry. The problem is that our outgone leaders did not help matters also. Upon all God has blessed our country and there is nothing anybody can do about it. Thank God I am a Nigerian

@certainty....mhh? i'm sure you are not certain of this,so get ur facts right.
@Cipha..Whether you discuss politics or not wouldnt stop u from getting a job it will rather help you.. It is high time we show interest before the NASS drives into the river. Or are u happy with the way things are moving in this coutry? Are u happy that u or a friend probably dont ve a job and bankOLE squandered #10bn, buying(going home ) "our" car and office eqpt that worth millions with just 850,000 and what more? getting a severance package of 69.xx milion naira? And most likely, his case may go d way of oda high profile cases in naija?...Haba. We have to know this and if we deem it necessary, act on it!!

@Iyke Jigga, AmakaNwa: Folks I highly respect ur opinions & hav always stated it here. Dont get me wrong, I didnt say we shldnt hav such discussions, besides dis site has a section 4 "open discussions" too, we can have dat there. Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
CERTAINTY,don't be naive who told u the PIB has been passed, who passed it into law?I can only guess its u. IYKE JIGGA,i don't blame most people clamouring for the PIB not 2 be passed in a hurry, have u gone 2 the Niger delta region?Do u know what gas flaring is doing to the environment?.In as much as the passage of the PIB ll benefit us all.certain areas of the bill needs to be reviewed in the best interest of those staying in the Niger delta region, the issue of gas flaring needs to be addressed. This companies just want to explore for oil, they don't want to stop gas flaring.Look what is happening in the developed counties u can't flare gas beyond a certain percentage,& of course u pay for as much volume of gas u flare.

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
Saintduck, I have stayed in Warri for over 18years and I understand everything. But the question is that, how many investment have U seen in this country for the past 12years, apart from the telecommunication industry? Gas flaring is not the major issue, they know what they are doing and are using this gas flaring issue to cover it up. The issue of gas flaring can be curbed. our refineries are running down, we dont even know the quantity of crude oil we produce each day, yet we are still proud of ourselves. Gosh, take a look at other countries that produce oil, how many of them after producing crude oil, later buy the refined products at an expensive rate, if not for the selfishness and greed of our leaders. These people are using gas flaring to decieve us. China does not produce oil, yet they have over 10 refineries, while we here are proud of 4 worn out and antiquated refinerines. I think it is better we sit up. Tell me why where they clamouring for the Bill to be passed when their time was running out, if not that it will no longer enrich them? Find out that the peolple that do not want it to still be passed are the people retaining their seat. Think brother

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
I took time to go thru the post and suggestion of u guys,Cipha is right but Jiga is more right. Cipha,For how long have u been using this site for job and how many have u been able to get if not that the employers raise ur hope by callin u 4 aptitude test and drag u from here to there then tell u 'Sorry,we cant continue with u' Have u cared to find out the cause?is POLITICS which i even going on in the Religious bodies.
Yes d PIB is yet to be passed bcos it has gathered more issues which can not be clearly explained, too many selfish interests of the big fishes in this God blessed nation.I am optimistic that GEJ knows what to do and decided not to talk much on it till after he enters office and bring in those to work with.
Just be prayerful with me eventhough am running out of points to pray infact tired of wat to pray and short of the right words to present it to Baba.
Is well

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
Nawa ooo..Just like the shl thing..People don dey sey send to my box..I only asked u to beep me via my private message to give you a simple sentence of not more than 10 words of what many of you do not know here because of security issue..Now una don dey email address here...I cannot even trust anyone here again ever since shell bursted a guy here...Who knows if na Efcc dey here or someone at the presidency level..Biko..I no get anything to disclose again....Make una no vex oooooo..
Let me just detail few things for you guys here...And this is why when I start talking about this North-south thing..Many just find it very difficult to believe...
Note the following...
That the senate president or speaker of the house cannot pass a bill alone or veto it..
That the north constitute many of the seats in our legislative arms and they are working for their godfathers..
That most oil blocks aquired by likes of Danjuma would be lost since nothing is happening on them..There are many of such oil blocks to power brokers from the north and PIB passage would ruined many business for them.
That those pushing for the PIB bill now for the IOC companies are real big Nigerian shots at the Director levels...There are many of them..They have perfected a very good way to make sure Nigeria takes over 70% fully.
Many of these guys have floated many indigenous company to take over from the company they worked for.Infact bids would be won by their various companies.
I guess many of you didnt know Allison madekwe- Petroleum minister worked with Shell before she was called for her present position...
Nigerias have taken over the human resources of all the multinationals..All they need now is to take over the main asset which is the oil field and some cabals in the house knows they do not have what it takes to establish theirs because they do not have men in that feild...Na war oo..And I am not seeing the bill being passed...For your info..The man who won the speaker of the house seat is fully a against the bill...The north are pulling us back...That is the gospel truth...

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
@adexzy007, see, people sending their address to you,was because they are concern about the state of the nation.after all you said you will not be able to disclose the secret here.so please stop making them feel like parasites.
Now, for me, there is nothing new in all what you have just said.anyway thanks for informing the house.I met the outgone madam minister in lagos last year.when her profile was read, and I discovered she read architecture, I was disappointed that Nigeria has not changed but along the line,I discovered she has spent most part of her life in the oil and gas sector, she also rose to the post of the MD of shell. The PIB covers local content act, which provides that only those skills which are not available locally should be done by expatriates,a measure aimed at reducing expatriates quotas in the industry.this bill is championed by her, which will give Nigerians upper hand.that is why the oil majors are moving against her seriously.and they have deployed all tactics including lobbying and outright mud slinging to blight her chances of making the ministerial list. But Jona has indirectly told us she will return.when he said any minister who performs more than 70% should be able to return.
Therefore am not surprise about the razmattaz the PIB is generation.and I feel sorry for Nigeria, for her set of legislators. Only a few, just a few can hold their own.for they are idealogically BEREFT, morally BANKRUPT, socially IRRESPONSIBLE, politically BARBARIC, intellectually FRAUDULENT and spiritually ANEMIC.

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
It's so pathetic, and I feel like crying having read through all the posts. What sort of country are we leaving in that a few individuals would always dictate to us what they want?
-
Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
the PIB is history,it has been dumped by both houses, if you dont stand up against those evil ppl in Abuja, then the fututre for many is blurred.

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
House,is so interesting that we the youth are becoming more aware of the happenings in our nation not just going around with sagging fashion and hanging looking for .... Yes Rugged reminds me of Local Content as in NCDMB, Nigerian content development and Monitoring Board that collected cv thru NNPC tower around Oct 2010 but nothing was done till now,may be the cancerworm of PIB is the hindrance.
Anyway, brethren, this bill will be signed bcos it has really raised dust and much pple beaming their search light 2wods it even now that FOI bill has been signed but my fear is that it might undergo huge selfish panel biting.
But what is the way out of this complains, are we this weak? mmmh! Have these 9ja carnivores(Selfish Elites)who claimed to have studied everything from developed countries but never studied selfless life style be responsible? Who can tell me the heart of God to concerning this punishment none of us deserve?

Re: Petroleum Industry Bill
If this PIB is not passed, then take it or leave it, there is no way forward for employment. Example the govt. promised to build three refineries in Kogi, Bayelsa and Lagos, where are they? they have not even started costruction, or is it with the words of mouth or probably God will bring it down for us? They later changed to Gas revolution project by build petrochemical and fertilizer plants, promising 500,000 jobs thru that means (election promises), which we never heard again after bros Jo won. Power supply promises, instead of going up rather it is reducing each passing day. Then what our dear Vice President will come out in the Nigerian Stock exchange to do is to ring bell that Nigeria is open for investment. How? the people coming into Nigeria to invest, do you think they are coming to dash a retrogressive economy their money or what? The next thing our so called GMD, NNPC will do is to start celebrating one year in office for doing what? The most annoying thing is that they forgot about the issue of 500, 000 jobs and later brought up the issue of 6million jobs, for God sake who are they decieving? God help us
