Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
MTN came to Nigeria at a time when nobody wanted to invest in Nigeria, at a time when Nigerians did not have phones. Even Zenith Bank refused to loan MTN cash to operate, UBA rejected MTN’s offer but today see the difference.
At least we all know the story of the only civilian unelected President in Nigeria - Goodluck Jonathan. We know how the people said he was not going to be President; they even made him acting-President. Today the rest is history.
What about Cowbell? When they came to Nigeria, they made milk in a sachet, Peak was laughing at them- they said Cowbell was milk for the poor- but they were right! 3- million poor people could afford N10 a day for a sachet of milk. Oya, do the maths - 3million people buying milk at N10.00- that was N30million every single day. In a month they grossed N900million (almost N1billion). Even Peak had to make sachet milk in order to survive in the market.
So what have people told you? What have they said you cannot do, or you do not qualify for, or you do not have experience for?
They told Cowbell, they told Goodluck, they told MTN, but today the story has changed.
I have a feeling dat something is changing for you today!
They will change their strategies just to keep in step with you. Don’t listen to what people are saying or what life is showing you… YES, YOU CAN !
Do have a Positive Day... Success is not about where you graduated from, but what graduates out of you.
Keep the spirit. There is a giant in you, sleeping because you have not woken him up. Don't be discouraged by your qualification, family background, environment or even our non-performing govt, help yourself. Stand-up and be beyond what you want to be!
Do have a HAPPY Sunday.
Meet me @ the top, can wait to ????.?????? you there !

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
NNPC staff recruitment lopsided - Bayelsa 11, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto zero,The recent recruitment by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is lopsided in favour of some states and has not reflected the Federal Character principle, an analysis of the recruitment document obtained by Daily Trust has revealed. The list of those recruited is due to be released early next month. Insiders allege that the process has ignored qualified candidates from many states, particularly from the northern part of the country. The list, for instance, shows that out of the total 132 senior officers employed, there were no candidates from Kano, Kaduna and Sokoto. But Bayelsa, the home state of President Goodluck Jonathan and Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke, got 11 slots making it the highest. Also, Kogi State, where the immediate past Group Managing Director of the Corporation Engineer Austen Oniwon comes from got nine while Rivers and Imo states followed with eight candidates each. The North East’s states of Borno, Taraba, Niger got one slot each while in North Central, Nasarawa, Plateau states and FCT got one slot each.Insiders told Daily Trust that the lopsidedness did not only stop at the recruitment list but also postings to some of the core technical areas in the industry. The source said most of the northern staff recruited are to fill non-technical positions. When Daily Trust wrote NNPC demanding to know the recruitment procedure, the number of applicants from each state, points scored by each candidate at the test and interview levels, benchmark points set by the corporation, number of candidates that qualified with their states of origin and number of candidates employed by the corporation and their states or origin in line with Freedom of Information Act (FOI), the corporation said the provision of the Act does not bind statutory corporations like NNPC.In a letter dated 17th July, 2012 with number CSLD.1099, signed by the NNPC’s Secretary and Legal Adviser, Anthony C. Madichie, the corporation said that: “We are not bound by the provision of the Act.”The letter also reads: “Please be informed that the Freedom of Information Act applies to Public Institution as defined under the Act. In this regards, section 31 of the Act defines Public Institution as follows: ‘... any legislative, executive judicial, administrative or advisory body of the government, including boards, bureau, committees or commissions of the state, and any subsidiary body of those bodies including but not limited to committees and sub-committees which are supported in whose or in part by public fund or which expends public fund and private bodies providing public services, performing public functions or utilizing public funds’.When contacted about the reruitment, Acting Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, NNPC Mr. Fidel Pepple said he is not aware of the recruitment list. “I don’t have information about that one,” Pepple said.Spokesman for the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Mr. Chuks Okoli told Daily Trust last night that recruitment and placement into government organisations are based on proportion of existing staff. He said: “If they have up to a hundred and something people recruited, the guideline is that every state must get, but those who are over represented will get less; those who are underrepresented will get more. That is our guideline and anything outside that is a breach of our guideline.”“Going by our guideline, provided that they are taking a hundred plus people, each state must get but not that they will get equally. It is expected that those who have more in the NNPC will get less and those that are underrepresented will get more.”He said however that the commission will swing into action if any breach of guideline is observed. The recent recruitment at the NNPC was subject of several controversies. The corporation, in conjunction with a recruitment firm, Phillips Consulting Limited, invited thousands of qualified candidates to an aptitude test which was held on Saturday, March 23, 2011 at various centres across the country. The interview was conducted in August 2011 but the result was kept in secret due to alleged political interference by highly influential figures. The list obtained by Daily Trust did not give details about the recruitment of graduate trainees and operators but the corporation said it had recruited 348 Graduate Trainees and 116 Operators, raising the total recruitment 596.The complete list is as follows: Abia 5, Adamawa 4, Akwa Ibom 4, Anambra 4, Bauchi 3, Bayelsa 11, Benue 4, Borno 1, C/River 3, Delta 4, Ebonyi 3, Edo 3, Ekiti 5, Enugu 1, Gombe 4, Imo 8, Jigawa 3, Kaduna 0, Kano 0, Katsina 2, Kebbi 1, Kogi 9, Kwara 3, Lagos 5, Nasarawa 1, Niger 1, Ogun 7, Ondo 4, Osun 4, Oyo 6, Plateau 1, Rivers 8, Sokoto 0, Taraba 1, Yobe 4, Zamfara 4, FCT 1, Total Experience 132. Total employed, 596.http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.p...na-sokoto-zero

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@ Skudi, my thoughts exactly...... I am not gonna make permutations now...If it is the will of God for us to work in the corporation, this could just be the first step in the series of overturning that God will do to pave way for our appointments...The more reason for us to pray
-
Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
From this newspaper's report, I can rightly infer that from the get-go, the corporation decided that no candidate from kano and sokoto will be employed in 2010....
Why waste their time all along...This is not fair......still keeping my fingers crossed. hmmmmmm

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@All, did you read the daily trust news? It says for those that have more they will get less for those that have less they will get more. Eg say Kaduna has large number of existing NNPC staff,it will get less to balance off with say Ekiti that has less NNPC staff. It is not the impression initially created that Federal Xter means everybody will be employed equally. It means if it is equal, then those that states that the military parked their people into the corporation during the military ruke.
Before anyone fights or quarrels with NNPC, first get the detailed staff list and states of origin prior to this recruitment. My point is have faith in God. The employers normally have upper hand especially in a country like ours.

Like my own case,i did not involve any political and/or royal power to get my offer. And NNPC can not employ ALL the applying candidates.Iam from Sokoto State, and know of 4 other people who are sokoto indigines employed as graduate technologists plus one operator, making our number to 5,only the ones i know.I wish everybody goodluck!

Dis pubication is tokin abt da EHs n u can b sure dat wen it comes to experience as rquired in da oil n gas industry, da south south states wil present more dan 10 candidates bfo any northern state wil present one, bcos I read publication complainin abt notherners gettin non teknikal postin. Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@Surj, I did not say "will get nothing" but will get less. More over, it is experienced people they were quoting not Graduates. What if nobody came from Sokoto for EH? but mainly as GTs, must they select? I want to beleive this process was majorly fair, my younger cousin that made and not even interested knows no single person, in fact his first time of going to Abuja was during the interview and he is not a serious person but brilliant. He has an offer letter SS4 but he is earning 10.2m with stress in a bank right now. I have told him to look at the future not now.
Interview is subjective, a lot of people rely on their CV to do the talking than them, especially those with first class and distinction or those that went to elite school. The panel might see u as arrogant too. I have gone to an interview I thought I did well , only for the woman that submitted my CV many months later to tell me that one of the panelist remarked "argues too much" and that was it.

So why did they invite indegenes of those states for test and interview when they knew dat they were over represented in the corporation and wouldn't be employed? Didn't they have an idea of the number of people to employ before they released the advert? Why didn't they state it in the advert naming those states with little or no chance of getting employed while encouraging people of Bayelsa and Kogi to apply cos their slots have to be filled in the system in accordance with FCC terms just as stated in CBN's advert lately to encourage transparency? Are they just knowing the Corporation's staff states statistics? Why is it now Bayelsa state (The State of the President and MPR) followed by Kogi state(The former GMD state) least represented in the Corporation? Stop pretending as if everything was transparent and OK especially with d EH recruitment. Bros, u no b Nigerian?
Congratz 2 successful guyz once again either by merit or otherwise cos u'll only get something meant 4 u.
All d best guyz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Bigbrother, It is normal and a Nigerian thing too. In school when you get A, you say " I got A" when you get may be D, you say "they gave me D". I pray for you all in the expected 2nd batch and not even everybody will still make the list when it comes out and do we now say "foul" because one did not make it. That is the reason every election is contested in the court. When OBJ said even if Jesus came down and conducted election, many would still see it as being partial. It is only fair when we win. For the hundreds on this listserve who know nobody and made it will be saying entirely different thing. Finally who says NNPC is even your destiny, God might be planning something far bigger. These are my thoughts, BigBrother. Quote:

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
where does this leave the purported second batch?
-
Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
I am a Nigerian, full blood. If u na see wuruwuru u na go run. You will not even know a single person that got employed. Go and ask people emplyed in other parastatal last eg NCC, NPA. Different sets of people will write exams, different sets will go for interview and entirely different set will be employed.
It will be like most testimonies in the church, where people hardly know the people testifying of the miraculous. But Many people here have testified and I know 2 or 3.
I used the word "majorly" meaning their can be "notes" passed on. It is like that everywhere in world. Children of politicans everywhere get favours. But it cannot be over 20% if it exists for this process. When you see wuruwuru they will reserve only 1% for merit, the rest will be notes.

I feel u! Of course d recruitment exercise was merit driven with about 20% "dagbo".
As 4 OBJ, 4get dat guy! Dat's not what he said. He said "even Jesus Christ cannot conduct a free and fair election in Nigeria". Can u imagine!
It's well!!!!!!!

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
I bb1 still emphassis that another batch is coming out , did u hear what the Acting GGM,Public Affairs said in the news. "When contacted about the reruitment, Acting Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, NNPC Mr. Fidel Pepple said he is not aware of the recruitment list. “I don’t have information about that one,” Pepple said." Also the reports say the list would be released early next month "The list of those recruited is due to be released early next month. Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
I strongly guess that an aggrieved hopeful, may be GT, OP, EH in Daily Trust must have initiated that finding in NNPC. There is no way at least an EH would not be taken from any state, so why were they invited. Though all can't be equal but at least one must come from any state, 4get GT or OP taken from them. That shows they would be coming out in 2nd batch, by them the whole list would have been made public, the list should not be secret issue in this time of democracy.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
pls see what FCC's man also said in the Daily Trust's reports "Spokesman for the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Mr. Chuks Okoli told Daily Trust last night that recruitment and placement into government organisations are based on proportion of existing staff. He said: “If they have up to a hundred and something people recruited, the guideline is that every state must get, but those who are over represented will get less; those who are underrepresented will get more.
