Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
Those that made it shld be thankful 2 God and acknowledge that its not that they r better than those hoping. If you have done interviews in top multinationals b4, you will know that the kind conducted by NNPC may not be the best test of an individual.
I was asked like 14 questn bordering on my discipline wh i answered correctly with very positive responses from the panel but here am i with no letter.
I wish those that hv gotten a fulfulling career and also urge some of them like 'Ethnan' who was advising people that havn't gotten thier letas to 'search themselves and work on xter' to be humble and thank God

This issue has pervaded the whole sphere of human endeavor in this country. Let me ask, if FC was that important to our survival, why hasn't the private sector embraced it yet. How many Banks use FC while recruiting?
Remember Jamb. I, with a score of 230, was almost not admitted into school whereas a student who later became my friend entered on MERIT was admitted with a score of 203. Infact most students that were admitted that way never told anyone their Jamb scores because of the fear of been ridiculed.
Affirmative action (FC/ Quota system) has never solved the underlying societal problems of a Nation. It has not empowered the Black Zimbabweans farmers nor reduced Almajiri in the North nor helped black South Africans. I am not saying that it does not have its advantages, however, the feeling I get is that we are not looking to solving our problems head-on but are still employing shortcut.
To round up my treatise :D, One of the fields of endeavour that we have excelled in as a nation is football/other sports. I am sure nobody in Nigeria want to hear FC in football. Till date, I do not know the state of origin of our Atlanta 96 football squad and do not care. Infact, if 11 Almaijiri wins us the world cup, I will personally lead them to Aso Rock. If we achieved success in Football without focusing on FC, are we saying we cannot transfer same to other aspects of our lives.
Lastly, If PDP had chosen Donald Duke based on his performance rather than Goodluck based on FC, our situation as a Nation will probably be different today.
You have a point. I want those complaining to note this: know that graduating with a first class does not make you better than someone with a 2.1 or even 2.2. there are many factors. That you felt you did well in the test and interview does not mean someone else didn't do better. Most of the people that were sacked in my set for poor performance or falsification were not from the north. Some companies interview people and never employ any because they do not fit the profile of who they want to work for them It is not only about academic achievement. Academic qualification is just to lead you into the door what will make them keep you is inside you. If those complaining think they are better than the others then they have no business whatsoever seeking to be employed in NNPC because they would have set their sights on NLNG, Shell,Mobil, total and the likes.By the way those companies do not use federal character (even though some are skewed towards ND) so i will expect such people to get in easily since they are better than others.

Pls House. Nobody has answered my question.
Has any Economist GT or Social Science cadre received offer letter. I am awaiting your timely response.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@surj, Lisabi, dustydee I don't think anyone is trying to say he is the best and must be employed here. What people are trying to say is that merit should be the criterion for deciding who gets a job and who doesnt not 'who you know'. While test and interview are not necessarily the best way of determining intelligence, that is all we've got for now. Until a better means is devised, we should make do with them for now. I am a strong proponent of merit-based FC selection though.

And who did not make it based on merit? Several criteria were set for the recruitment, which one was not adhered to?

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@dustydee, I don't have all the facts and never at any time claimed this particular recruitment was not done in order. However, testimonies of wrongdoings coupled with marginalization of certain region of the country cannot be altogether ignored. If you feel you got there by merit then you absolutely have no reason to join issues with anyone.

Hi, Please I am not joining issues with you or anybody else. Just trying to get the facts right. Please which region was marginalized and what are the wrong doings. How many were employed from other regions and how many from the region that was marginalized. Please I will like to know cos am also collecting data and information on similar things like that. thank you.

I can authoritatively tell you that Sokoto, Kaduna and Kano states have not a single EH taken. This I am positively sure of while speculations has it that Bayelsa got 30 EH taken. Almost the same scenario played out for GT intakes.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
If you were not called, please.......
The five stages of grief
Elisabeth Kübler-Ross & David Kessler Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance
The stages have evolved since their introduction and they have been very misunderstood over the past three decades. They were never meant to help tuck messy emotions into neat packages. They are responses to loss that many people have, but there is not a typical response to loss as there is no typical loss. Our grief is as individual as our lives.
The five stages, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost. They are tools to help us frame and identify what we may be feeling. But they are not stops on some linear timeline in grief. Not everyone goes through all of them or in a prescribed order. Our hope is that with these stages comes the knowledge of grief ’s terrain, making us better equipped to cope with life and loss.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
People should not misunderstand my point. We are not saying Federal Character is not good. There were many factors for calling the 1st batch, performance in individual state ,urgency of the job category and federal character counted. I said that Federal Xter had not made some candidates who scored higher than some who had been called , not that people who were called now had higher scores than those who are yet to be called, get it right. Even going by 207GTengr, 348Gts non-engr as posted by some1 b4, are we saying all these people had been called. Even another batch is on the way Confirmed.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
PIB is now at topmost status been approved by FEC and being forwarded to NA. In fact, the first batch NNPC employees were called at this stage when NNPC knows that the PIB is ripe for implementation and for NNPC to show its readiness to govt and investors for overhaul of national oil sector, that was the reason the 1st batch was called now after the PIB passage by National Assembly, the full gear is released and many candidates would be called for employment.Pls go and read PIB well for your information.I pray that new PIB would exorcise corruption in Nigerian oil and gas and brings transparency.

This info is accurate. Niger State got 1 EH & I can confirm that Bayelsa got 30EH & a total of 100 EH made the list. The EH category would be fiercely contested in a law court if this is not corrected.

Re: A new thread for NNPC Hopefuls
@bb1,
To many permutations u hv up there.
What if they hv called all of those? The figure up there and the ur rationale that they wouldnt hv called them all is NOT a good premise for hoping
However,i hope they call more pple. I choose to believe Teracco's info not bcos of the hope it brings but bcos of d accuracy of his last info on the letas that were released last wk.
Ultimately, i believe in God's report.
