I mean peaceful protest
By d time alternative ways 2 survive finish in dis country 4 d younger generation,well calculated avenues of lootin public funds continue d next thing is revolution. is like dis regime trying to cover d shit of OBJ wen he was a minister of petroleum 4 8yrs.
May the peace and love of the Lord be with u all. Now and forevermore
AMEN
with d new development in nnpc i begin to reason with those that claim dis administration used subsidy fund for their campaign into office, so expect nothing with d subsidy saga even though d case is wt efcc cos "no one bit d finger dat feed him/her" nnpc agent in d house where are u?
I suggest 3 locations ABUJA, LAGOS and PORT HARCOURT. The earlier the better!!!!!
We gather support online, decide a date, then on that day : Move to 2 or 3 media house and then to the nearest NNPC corporate or SBU office No violence please.
A peaceful rally where we air our grievances on the delay of letter and payment of TP.( gosh a lot of guys flew in and out of the country to take both test and interview!!!!!) Chikina
Hi All, this is my first time posting on this thread but I have followed the conversation on here keenly.I have laughed at the jokes and kept hope alive with all your inputs. God bless you all. Now with regardto the proposed protest, it is a grand idea and I think we need to use social media actively. I'm sure most of us are on twitter. There are some guys on there that are social crusaders and they have tons of followers.I mean people like @ogundamisi, @elrufai, @omojuwa. If we can get them to tweet about the protest, I guarantee we would get the attention of relevant authorities more quickly. So please let's agree on a date quicklyand stick to it.
4th june is appropriate. Remembr, its nt goin 2 b a 1 day thng, cos we wil continue til d letters are released.
Secondly, we wil change our strategy frm peacefl 2 violence if thy are nt respondin as expctd
Violence will not portray us as patriots. We just need to let them know our mind in a peaceful protest n carry sm media houses along. No matter ao many days violence shd not be encouraged.
@ thurllyboy, i dey here o, ve bn following evri post made on d thread but ?am in lag now, waiting 4 a consensus 2 b reached, as per d date of d protest, so as 2 knw d nxt line of action.
D cloud is gadarin d rain is about to fal d day is 4th june nd d place nnpc towers abj. Pls pls nd pls lets go wif our stove, mat nd fud cos we may slip at dia gate for days. Lets tel dm dat we cnt even pay our rent n longa nd dat we av bin driven at of our houses
If we ar all gathered like on the day of the test, we might be successful if we decide to go violent but since we're most like not goin 2 be as much as 1/10 of that number, then a peaceful demo is the best way to go. Moreso, dialogue settles matter better dan violent. But not when u're dealing with a stubbon fellow. I hope NNPC mgt is not stubbon. If they are, we shall respond accordingly. Gracias
if Not God...
What about Lagos residents?? I feel we should stage our protest in Lagos too, but i dont know where. We should use 3 locations- Abuja, Lagos and PH!!
Hi guyz.....so final answer 4th June 2012....NNPC Towers abuja....while those In lagos can proceed 2 either DPR HQTRS and NNPC lagos office........
And if possible lyk sum 1 suggested ...we can create awarness by using twitter with ppl lyk @omojuwa @ogundamisi......#jstsugestin
For those in ph, lets converge @ refinery junction, eleme and match down to nnpc refinery. Solidarity for ever. That is if dey fail to release d letas b4 den. Aluta continua, victoria is my wife.lol
@All,
This campaign MUST be a PEACEFUL protest! No weapons, no explosives etc!!! We must be educated and civilized enough to believe in the power of peaceful demonstration to actualize social change, and as young intellectuals we must lead by example!
So get your placards ready and invite as much media houses as possible to cover the protest. The goal is for our voices to be heard so they (NNPC) do the right thing and not to be destructive! We will also need a spokesman who can be chosen on that day to possibly address the media on our behalf. I can assure you that this will be enough. And if this first attempt does not do the work, we keep on persistently every other day.
So, start now to think about the slogans to put up on your placards like "NO to NNPC victimization" "NNPC give us our job" "We want our letters now!" etc etc. Here is a brief write-up on how to organize a peaceful protest from www.democracyeducation.net:
The following are the key steps to organizing an effective peaceful, legal action:
1. make sure you have the resources to do the action successfully, including the resources to ensure that the action will remain peaceful;
2. make sure you have a good reason the for action;
3. make sure the demands you make at the are clear; will action
4. make sure the action attract the attention the you are will of decision-maker trying to influence (and will influence them in a positive way);
5.make sure the action public awareness your and will build of issue/problem, build support for your solution(s) (if it won't, don't do it);
6. if you are planning a mass march, make sure a demonstration or other action, lot of people will actually show up (if they won't, don't plan a mass action);
7. remember the rule -- you 100 people come to of ll2 if try to call to the action, likely you will reach 50 people, 25 people will say that they will come, and 12 will actually show up;
8. check with other groups to ensure that other actions are planned the
not for same time, date or location, and to invite them to the action;
9. (signs, make creative, colourful, and large materials posters, banners,
costumes etc.) that deliver the message of your action in a very graphic way;
10. scout the location of the action to make sure it is the best place to hold the action you are planning;
11. check with the municipal, provincial or federal government (depending on the location of the action) and the police to make sure you have any permits you need to hold the action;
12. choose people play (host, to roles at the action speakers, information sources, observers to watch police, security, photographers, sound and video recorders, first aid, special guests etc.);
13. a dress rehearsal, (for puppet
hold if applicable example, street theatre plays or shows should be practised in advance);
14. that you have the you need the (for a confirm all equipment for action example, generator for electricity, microphones, sound speakers, megaphones, fences,
name tags, etc.); and
15. you want media coverage, prepare and send a alert if media to the media 2-3 days before the action, and prepare and send a news release to the media on the day of the action.
June 4th it is...letz go there
......fellow Hopefulls, i say it again....
D protest must hold! U dont know d power of a protest until u carry out one. Its more powerful dan unaswereable prayers at times.
Even if it doesnt give out our letters, atleast it'l give d icpc/efcc some job since d presidency hav been soft pedalling d subsidy probe reports. I guarantee u dat d presidency isnt resposible for d delay and may not even know abt it bcos we'v not let dem know. In dis country if u dont say ur problem no one'll solve it for u.
Brethren dis is d tym for our voice to b heard!
Imagine a simple retirement by abt 20 board members is more important dan over 44,000 fine graduates dat risked deir tym, resources and lives to sit for deir useless test.
Abeg we no go gree!!! Leave JA out! Leave Vin20 out! They'l only discourage u or worse still break ur hearts again.
The protest must hold.....
Our unanimous agreement on a date is very important my people. 4th or 14th. If its 4th let every body send capital 'FOURTH OF JUNE' in a post and same should be done for 'FOURTEENTH'. Lets roll
FOURTH OF JUNE
We shuld also try to agree on d time and venue where we will converge
FOURTH of JUNE 2012 by God's grace!
Guyz I heared there is also a thread similar lyk dis on ....with abt 10views per day. So let's also enjoin dem on dis
On .com I mean
Naraland I mean
Lagosians aint talking. Na wah o .... I know d bulk of d interviwees ar Lagosians.
Agreed date 4th june,gud but i can't make it to abj, so lagosians where is d venue?
Dear all, i will advise that we incude on the date time and venue today. E.g those in lagos: VENUE...TIME..., abuja: venue... Time....modalities must be on ground so dat we dont get it wrong. In protest of this nature, number is very important... Lagosians, u ve got d numba...do it. I am not sweet at the moment
NNPC Zonal office in Lagos state:
28, Ademola street, off Awolowo road, south west Ikoyi
Fellow hopefuls, my last post was not in total disagreement to a peaceful protest. However, I suggested we allow a specific deadline to see if things may unwind possitively. Since majority here wanted a quick action now, I will not be in isolation to this noble call. May I borrow from the ideas postulated by Bebrief, which says that for any protest of this nature to gain recognition, you must seek attention from the media and the police must be carried along. This is particularly important because of the insecurity issue in the country. I suggest thus:
1. It is very expedient to choose a convener (leader) and 2 or 3 assistants who must all be domicile
in Abuja.
2. Inform Police and some media houses like AIT and NTA.
3. We must try to pull crowd of job seekers who are not necessarily NNPC hopefuls and make them
understand that this trend if it remains a recurrent decimal, they will definitely be a victim some
day. The DPR guy should also join this crusade. The time to fight is now!
4. Seek any external support for logistics.
5. Be courageous.
6. Considering all these points mentioned above, June 4 might be too short for this rally.
Thanks 2all hopefuls 4d high spirit they are exhibitng 2wads dis planned protest. Infact dis wil go a long way 2correct a lot of ills regardng dis recruitment. And if NNPC management is nurturing any idea of cancellng d process, by d time dis protest hits them, no one wil advice them 2shelve such evil idea.
most of the people shouting about bombs and guns are not going to leave the confines of their homes on the 4th of June anyway so no need commenting on how boko haram-esque it sounds. but to those that will represent us, pls do so in the most respectable manner possible. whatever we do or say, lets remember that the aim of the march/protest/protest march/demonstration is to bring to the fore our plight and thus a quick amicable resolution of the NNPC recruitment process. I dont support violence, I never have and never will...Power of the mind solves more problems than the muscle...and those looking at tunisia, egypt, libya et al to validate the need for a revolution should look at how the are now and how the have been coping post-revolution. peaceful protest.
All hands should be on deck 2ensure that dis planned protest is not nipped in d bud by d NNPC Mgt who would have even gotten d info by now thru their 2numerous informants. Having already been indicted in d subsidy probe & knowing d extra damage dis protest wil add 2their already battered image,they will certainly invoke all possible means 2stop dis protest, which include but not limited 2using d police & other law enforcement agencies, & even infiltrating d ranks and file of d hopefuls so as 2cause confusion and truncate d action,but remember we dont police permit or clearance. What we need do is simply inform d police of d protest & its details. Dats exactly what d law says.
I Meant "we dont need to obtain police permit or clearance but only need to inform the police"
june 4th is around d corner, who are d various cordinators @ d various venues. I prefer june 14th, to enable u plan properly and effectively.
June 4th ...d earlier d better ..cos there myt b changes in d mgt soon....June 4th is ideal.....let's go there!
we have 2 invite media houses and confirm dat their correspondent wil be there, report to law enforcfment authorities,appoint cordinators at d various venues, appoint monitors or crowd control, some of us will act as traffic controllers,map out d route 2 follow,have a spokesperson. June 4th is too sudden, we need time 2 plan well. It is not how far but how well, folks.
Do not be surprised if the NNPC mgt. have some implants on this thread., they will surely throw spanners to the wheel of progress for the protest.
Wont you Guys need School Children.??
Just passing by..oo
Gentlemen 4th june period. dis is a continues protest until something positive happen, coordinators, spokesmen etc will be available at d venue, we can start with little population nd increase by d day. join or u listen to media report,remember fuel subsidy protest what happen in day 1.no going bac
@ alberteinstein " i prefer 14th june to enable U plan" are u isolatin urself or 1 of d agent? @ABCD123 dis is d 1st time i reply u, do u know u lack respect/proper sense of value. enough of ur rubbish,what distinguish u and d sch. children? if i may ask, u have everything in common,empty drum.
