NDDC Post Graduate Foreign Scholarship Program 2011

http://www.nddc.gov.ng/images/logo.gifNiger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)[/B][/URL] is seeking applications from interested candidates for a Post-Graduate (Masters /PhD) Foreign Scholarship Program 2011.

As part of our Human Resource Development initiatives, NDDC is embarking on Foreign Post-graduate Scholarship scheme to equip Niger Deltans with relevant training and skills for effective participation in the Local Content programme of the current Administration as well as compete globally in various professional fields. The Scheme is for suitably qualified applicants with relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree from recognized Universities in the following professional disciplines:

1. Engineering
2. Medicine
3. Computer Science/Technology
4. Geology
5. Geosciences
6. Environmental Sciences

Applicants must have gained Post Graduate admission into a recognized University abroad.

Application Requirements

1.) First Degree with minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division for those wishing to undertake a masters’s Degree programme and a good Master’s Degree for PhD candidates from a recognized University.

2.) Gained Admission into a Post Graduate Programme in any of the listed disciplines in a foreign University.

3.) Bond of good conduct from any of the following persons from the applicant’s community/clan
a. Member of National Assembly
b. Chairman of the LGA
c. First class traditional ruler
d. High Court Judge

4.) Persons with evidence of cult membership or criminal record shall not be considered for the award.

Mode of Application

1.) Application must be made Online at the Commission’s website:www.nddc.gov.ng

with the following attachments:

• Recent passport photograph
• Local Government identification letter
• Post Graduate admmission letter from Overseas University
• Relevant Degrees from recognized University

2.) Successfully completed application form will be assigned a registration number automatically
3.) Print the hard copy of the on-line generated acknowledgement for ease of reference
4.) All shortlisted applicants will be posted on NDDC website.

Application Deadline
All completed applications must be submitted on or before 6th May, 2011

I keep getting an error message each time i try to submit the first form. Pls is anybody experiencing same ? I'll appreciate your response.

Hey tonyangba.......when you get the error message,scroll down and look for the column highlighted in red......i got that when filling mine at the column for phone numbers......i had to remove the space before it accepted...so keep trying cos i just applied!!!Goodluck!!

There was no provision for us to attach the 'Bond of good conduct' and the 'Guarantor Letter', did you guys notice this?

Please, I'm having issues applying. After filling the form and clicking continue, it comes out with some funny looking error messages (something about sql, query, line 1 blah, blah blah).

@ovasa4real.I can develop site,therefore I quickly figure out what the problem is if you are trying to submit a form.Pls do the following
1.Remove any character/special symbols like ",' in any of your document name.
2.Remove any space
3.Don't use too long word/name
e.t.c
I experienced the same thing and I quickly do the above steps and it work.Thank you

the guarantor is the same person to write the bond of conduct right? so it is the details of the person that writes the bond of conduct that will be filled into the guarantor's column on the form.

House,I took ample time to check for age limit but did not see any,this almost confuse me if the post is real becos is it not almost an imposible thing that 9ja in their mischievous way will not make things difficult for the pple?

can sm1 who does not have an admission letter apply cos i saw a place for that in the form.

I actually saw on one of the posts over the internet saying that for masters the age limit is 31 yrs and 35 yrs for PHD. But i have not verified these posts so don't treat it with too much credibility.

Secondly, is d GUARANTOR not supposed to be any of those listed in category 3 or whatever so dat we don't progress in error? Thirdly, how does the bond of good conduct look like? Pls let's cross-pollinated ideas on these questions. Thank you.

Pls house, i applied for d scholarship but my guarantor was not any of those listed for d bond of conduct letter. Is there anyway i can edit my application or shod i leave it like dat. Cos i think d letter will be requested after d selection.

@Standozey,i dont tink so but dont too wory about it. Just beleive God that it will work well 4u. I dont really knw wen d letter will be requested. Brother be happy

The above scholarship came out in The Nation newspaper on 10th August 2010. I can’t post all the details here because i only glanced through the paper but what i have below should do.
Conditions:
1. Indigene of Niger delta
2. You must have been given admission into any recognised foreign university, for Post Graduate studies (masters or Phd) in Engineering, Medicine, sciences, etc.
3. You must provide a recommendation letter 4rm either a recognised chief or trad ruler, high court judge, L.G.A. chairman, House of rep member, senator etc.
4. For MSc must be less than 30yrs and for Phd., less than 35 years.
5. For MSc., you must have at least a 2.2 from a reputable university.
6. For Phd., a masters degree from a reputable university.
The real website is http://www.nddc.gov.ng/ I don’t know why the website in the original advert is wrong.

1. Your admission letter.
2. Local Goverment Identification.
3. Passport photograph.
4. Degree certificates
5. Recommendation/Attestation from any of the listed personalities in (#3) above.

1. Applicant must be Indigene of Niger Delta Origin
2. This scholarship scheme is designed for interested applicants who have already secured admission into an institution of higher learning overseas.
3. NDDC will not undertake the responsibility of securing relevant travel visa(s) for applicants.
4. NDDC will not undertake the responsibility of securing and/or paying for flight / travel to the country of study.
5. Double application under different names or aliases will be detected and void application.
6. Application is FREE online, no person, group or establishment has been authorized to assist those who wish to apply. NDDC will never ask for any money to facilitate this process.
7. Only successful candidates will be contacted, there is no need for physical representation or solicitation.
8. All relevant documents supporting your program and admission are to be scanned and attached to this application form. There is no need to submit or post hard copies of such documents in any form to NDDC.

House, the guarantor letter would b needed after d list is out

this NDDC people should not make thing difficult to the common people. like in the issue of letter of good conducts, those categories of personalities listed are not people one can easily get access to. like some body dat his house of representative member has not pick her phone as to book an appointment with her. Then while in the form form ,NDDC needed their e-mail addressees, which is very difficult thing to get.

As for u,i understand u have feaar for admission,No u dont have to be,u can see that the admission uploading column on the online aplication form does not carry red asterix,meaning not must, but just make sure u ve applied for the admission and then use the info like Course,School contact etc to apply for the scholarship ok.

Go ahead and wait for ur admision letter.

I think they will request those things after shortlisting. Then u will ask me:what is the criteria for shortlisting? Anyway,pray.
As for the closing date,just work with the posted one for now though i did not see it anywhere in their site.

The very first day this scholarship was posted here, I checked the website and found out that the requirements was exactly the same as what was posted here. However, about a week later when I wanted to apply, I realized that the the requirements online had changed to just (being an indigene of Niger Delta and having a letter of recommendation from a guarantor). Pls house which of these requirements should I follow, the one posted here or the one on their website currently?
