My nnpc imterview

For me in life, you dont pass all the tests. No matter how good you are, you pass some and fail sometimes. its the way life is. If we pass all the time, we won't learn to empathize with people of weaker abilities. Concerning whether english, mathematics or not should be the standard mode of testing, I want to say beggars have no choice. Whoever wants to get jobs need to get his/her hand on as many types of test as are available. Being able to guess what people might come out with is part of what show people are good. Afterall our abilities to make a 2.1 or 1.1 too have been based on this. So why should we now leave school and think we start determining the kind of test people should set for the kind of people they want on their job! Our anger, anguish and tirade solve no problem.

In my opinion even 3rd class graduates shld b allowed next time to sit for the exams, i am sure if it were the case some ppl will truly b shocked to see what stuff some of those guys r made of. Gani fawehnmi of blessed memory falls into that class. Nowadays many ppl come with crappy 1st class degrees thinking it will intimidate oniwon. Lol.

Abeg o, free d gmd. He only stated that the majority of 1st class and 2.1s invited failed (watever their criteria for failure is as a 50% score is not failure but might have not made it to d interviews). It's normal to fail, it doesn't mean anyone who fails isn't intelligent and i don't suppose his statements suggested that in any way.

i just love NHJ,i always find the battle of wits most intriguing!!

Apparently, its hard to come by verifiable and concrete information about the class of degree that Gani Fawehinmi graduated with. My apologies for derailing.

NNPC Recruitment - The Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Austen Oniwon, is worried over the dwindling standard of education in Nigeria. He said yesterday that 80 per cent of job seekers failed the corporation's recruitment test.

Group General Manager (GGM), Group Public Affairs of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, who represented him at the grand finale of the 2011 NNPC annual quiz competition in Abuja, called for a review of the nation’s education system due to the mass failure at ordinary level examinations.

But the Educational Adviser to the United States, Mallam Dalhatu Hamza, told students that the US has earmarked $2.7million as scholarship to brilliant Nigerians students this year.
Hamza challenged the students to face their studies squarely, adding that handsome rewards are available for excellence.
He told the competitors that the US had already earmarked $2.7million as scholarship to excellent Nigerians this year.

On the declining standard of education, the GMD said: "The recent mass failure of candidates in WAEC and NECO exams nationwide makes the call for an urgent surgical review of our schools system more urgent than envisaged.

"Also our current experience in the ongoing recruitment exercise where candidates with the so-called 2:1 certificates post less than 20 per cent score line in some cases has heightened our apprehension about the lack of functionality in our education format. Over dependence on certificates is not the best. Over 80 per cent of the candidates　 who wrote the NNPC recruitment exams failed," he said.
He advised the students to tailor their careers towards valuable courses.
Oniwon also advised the competitors to embrace hard work if they want to work in corporations.

1.) Ifeanyi King: The GMD NNPC,with all due respect should also put into consideration the 'assisitance' of the corporation in failing the job seekers. In a situation where some candidates already have the answers to the questions is appaling. More worrisome is the trend of passing some candidtaes who never applied/sat for the test in the first place.

In some cases,the corporation presents question papers that are rarely illegible and u expect those 2.1 students to do magic and score 80%? We should be more worried about SOME of the 20% that made the test and probe the 'how they made the test'. This is of course Nigeria!

2.) Ezemdi Uwalaka: Why would 80% of the candidates not fail?, when the exam was poorly organized and was written in the night, candidates (Port Harcourt Centre) were using cell phones with torchlight to write an exam.
What a shame from NNPC and Philips Consulting.

Reps to probe NNPC, others over fraud allegations

The House of Representatives is set to investigate activities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Department of Petroleum Regulations and the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency over allegations of fraud, abuse of due process and irregularities in the award of oil blocks since 1999.


A statement by the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Suleiman Kawu, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday, stated that the investigation was necessitated by petitions from the oil sector.


He listed areas where the alleged frauds were noticed to include awards of crude oil lifting, round tripping, lack of due process in oil block allocations, bloated budgetary allocations and breach of procedures in crude oil lifting.


He said the House was in possession of numerous documents and petitions on the alleged frauds.


Kawu’s statement reads, “We have in our possession documents on all transactions, the companies involved and individuals accused of different degrees of breaches of laid down rules and procedures, fraud, connivance and bribery in the oil industry.


“It therefore behoves on us, as the elected representatives of our people and in furtherance of good governance and transparency in our public institutions, to engender an envisaged positive goal that will satisfy the yearning and expectations of our people.


“Arising from intense consultation and unanimity of majority of members of the House of Representatives and pursuant to the constitutional powers vested in the parliament as enshrined in Sections 88(1) a, b sub-sections 1, 11 and in consonance with the request of major stakeholders in the industry, it is imperative for us to take a cursory look into the way and manner the industry is governed.”


He said the proposed probe would not refrain from apportioning blames or reprimanding anybody whose conduct was not found to be above board.


Kawu said the House would, as soon as it resumed, set up “an ad hoc committee to carry out the investigation.”


He, therefore, called on the general public and other well- meaning Nigerians to furnish the proposed committee with useful information that could assist the House in performing its constitutional responsibilities.


In the meantime, members of the Nigeria Governors Forum met in Abuja on Sunday night to take a position ahead of Monday’s National Economic Council meeting.


Our correspondent gathered that the governors discussed the issue of revenue allocation and excess crude account.


The governors, who also discussed the Sovereign Wealth Fund, are expected to table their grievances before President Goodluck Jonathan at the NEC meeting.

MY COMMENT: This untimely probe is for their selfish interest. We all know what they want. the probe was timed just when the nnpc is about concluding its recruitment exercise. We all know the dis-honourable members want to use force and coersion through unnecessary and fruitless probes to slot in their preferred candidates. why are they just realising that there has been discrepancies in the award of oil blocks since 1999? we will continually expose your misdeeds. I want to implore the nnpc management not to give in to their forced request. let transparency and fairness be the watchword in the current recruitment programme. May NHJers be blessed

This is just an Attempt to make jest of the organisation but God pass dem

this shown to us transparency in the recruitment process. My fello, candidate in d NNPC selection process do not be move by this attempt by the house of Reps plo agaist the NNPC but trust in d Lord. The God I served is a consuming fire, God of transparency and justice. Whoever that come agaist this process He shall consumed and slice to pieces like grasses in the field. Just whatch and see what God shall do in this process. I know the God i served, i have no fear in this. One love

I think of dis recruitment exercise at least once every hour. I just can't wait to get the invite for medicals and subsequently the appointment letter. I really can't imagine how I would feel. It's gonna be a dream come true! It's gonna mean I'm getting a "real" appointment letter for the first time in my life. I mean "real" in the real sense after collecting four different appointment letters in the past. Nigerian employers take advantage of the unemployment level in dis country thereby imposing harsh and unworthy conditions on job seekers and employees.

I am using dis platform and the Ramadan period to pray 4 everybody's success throughout the recruitment stages. Please recite Al-Fathia if you beleive in it.
