HELP!!!! 2 Interviews On The Same Day!

Guys, one of your own needs your help again, you guys have always been there for me, I need you now than ever. I have two interview invitations for the same day, different cities and different times but...
1. Nigeria Breweries- Shift Packaging Engineer
2. Halliburton- Assistant Cement Operator

NIGERIA BREWERIES
Dear Candidate,

You are invited for further assessment for the position of Shift Packaging Engineer in Nigerian Breweries.

Date - Tuesday the 22nd of June, 2010
Venue - The Star room of The Lagos Brewery, NB Plc, No 1 Abebe village Rd ,Iganmu, Lagos.
Time - 8.30am Prompt.( No excuse for being late will be entertained)

Note that successful candidates from Tuesdays exercise will be shortlisted for a Panel Interview which will hold the following day

As a follow up to your performance in the recent aptitude test conducted in Port Harcourt for an Operator Assistant on 16th April 2010, we now have the pleasure to invite you for a second interview at the company’s Port Harcourt office located at Plot 158, Trans Amadi Industrial Layout, on Wednesday, 23rd June 2010 at 12 noon.

Please bring along a valid identification card/international passport and an updated resume/curriculum vitae.

However, note that Halliburton Energy Services Nigeria Limited shall not be responsible for your transportation, accommodation and meals while attending the interview in Port Harcourt .

Hmmmm!........They say when GOD wants to bless you, he does that from all sides in an unimaginable manner. First thank GOD for the multiply interview, pray and I will suggest you call Halliburton to confirm if they can reschedule. I guess Halliburton will be more flexible in this case. It depends. I think you should call Halliburton and see if you can move the interview to another day. Most of these interviews are conducted in batches and it might spill into another day. God's grace sha.

@Tripple C; Believe me, it's a real dilemma. First, i'd like to congratulate you. I pray you'll be successful.
As stated in the mail for NB, there will be no excuse for being late. That's a tone that sounds specific. As such, if you contact them for re-scheduling, your chances of havin it your way might be slim. Also, if possible, contact Haliburton to ask for a reschedule. Interview dates change on request by invitee for some companies. No harm in trying. Finally, in a situation whereby you don't get to reschedule any of the two, then i believe you should pick Haliburton. There's a reason why God gave you the two and by his grace, this opportunity will not pass you by. Best of luck.

Since NB says no late coming, call halliburton just like evry other person has said and find out if they can reschedule, if not, you can make it since the panel interview for NB is 8:30am. Immediately after the interview get the next available flight down to PH . . .

No reason to fear, God that made it possible will surely crown your efforts . . .

@Rodeo-xavier, nasacrown et al; thanks guys, this is really a tough decision, Halliburton said they only have one batch and as such cannot re-schedule me, still praying and reading up what the honourable members of this forum have to say concerning this tight call.

I had similar situation last month.despite my efforts to reschedule either failed.I was left with to choose one.Am regreting my choice 2day.It could be a helpless situation,talk to God and choose one.For me the Nigerian brewery sound as if it will click,i'll attend that one.

@Tripple, Look up to heaven and ask the Unchangeable changer for an answer. With him, through him and by him, everything is possible.

With Aerocontractors cheap flight tickets these days you can arrange for an afternoon flight to catch up with the interview. Tough decision really to make. But put everything in GOd's hand. If you do not have any specific clear cut leadway. Start the day with the first one and just move on to the second in PH. Do not go by thoughts of which one is clickable...you cannot be too sure!

1st and foremost, you did not avail to the house the exat time for the Interview with Halliburton.
If the mail did not state a specific time, then you can call them to see if it is possible to reschedule it as they may have different batches for different days (though I dont know with certainty). If not I would suggest you stick to Halliburton coz as far as I know you are at the penultimate stage of a typical recruitment process (Interview preceeding Aptitude test), If you call Halliburon and they sound like "we will contact you for a reschedule date" It means that you have to ensure you go for it.

In Nigeria Breweries you are yet to write the Aptitd test let alone the interview. be hopeful and pray that the will of the Almighty be done while you try your physical best.

if i were u. i'll go for the hallibuton interview since u've passed the first stage already.

CONGRATS! But this is a really tight one, I ws about adding to wat ACEEMMANUEL & DUKEE 17 said, that is by utilising AERO advance booking discount flights, but read ur post again & saw whre NB said dat successful folks wld hv another intervew the nxt day, & u said Halliburton wldnt re-schedule.

Well, at this stage,ur best bet wld be to try re-scheduling NB, & if all attempts fail, then resort to attending Halliburton (hey we are talkin of an Oil coy here!). Shuttling the 2 in dis situation wld b too stressful & expensive, besides the probability of delays might affect u too. I hit almost d same type of Dilemma, although lighter, when I had to leave PH 4 Bayelsa in the mornin, finish a task & be back to PH by noon for DRILLOG exam a few months ago..trust me it wasnt funny..talkless of u doing same 4 Lagos.

Anyway, GOODLUCK with ur choices.

@Tripple-C: first of all I want to say congrats to you for these doors that are opening to you cos a lot of Nigerian grads are still waiting on God for a single test invitation, let alone an interview. Anyway, I don't envy you in any way cos I've always hoped I wouldn't find myself in such a situation considering the number of test & interview invites I get.
I would advise you look unto the hills from where the ultimate help come, the LORD will direct your path. In my human opinion, attend the one that comes first and the LORD will make a way for the second to be at your convenience....... ;) ;) ;) ::) ::) ::)

Congrats Tripple C for these two great opportunities you have. I would say if you can afford it, attand the first NB PLC on the 22nd. By evening latest you should know how you performed. Two scenarios; you will either be successful or not. If you are not successful, it means you will not be attending the panel interview the next day so the choice is easier, you simply hop on the next flight to attend your Halliburton interview on the 23rd.

Now the tough cookie. If you are successful, which I pray you will be, considering the fact that you don't know how long the panel interview may last, it might be tough for you to attend the NB PLC interview and still make it to PH for the other interview. I suggest you bone and attend the Halliburton because if your performance is really good at NB and they really want you, they will reschedule for you.

All in all, pray for guidance from God because we are only mere mortals and are advising you from our simple undrestanding of things.

Congrats again cos I know you will get one of these two jobs and best of luck!!!

I wrote the NB but they didnt call me....

JUST THANK GOD HE DID IT FOR YOU UP TO THIS EXTENT.
AS FOR ME, I WILL SUGGEST YOU GO FOR NB, (IF POSSIBLE YOU CAN BOOK A RETURN TICKET FROM LAGOS).
REASONS
1. NB WILL BE TRANSPARENT AND THE RESULT MIGHT COME OUT IMMEDIATELY FROM THE LOOK OF THINGS
2. HALIBURTON RESULT WILL NOT COME OUT IMMEDIATELY AND WURUWURU IS TOO MUCH IN HALIBURTON, BUT GOD PASS THEM THIS TIME AROUND.
3. NB WILL BE STRICT WITH TIMING
4. HALIBURTON WILL BE FLEXIBLE SOMEHOW BUT THAT IS IF U COME LATE SAME DAY

@ Tripple-c, I want you to thank God seriously because he made this possible at this time after a long search. I also want to say a big congratulations to you as I believe you have a job already.I really don't have anything new to add but to sound a note of warning.I know someone who had an offer with Haliburton in 2008 and their set were even taken to Egypt for preliminary training but none of them was called for the real employment till now.Do not be enticed by the wave of Oil coy job.This is a true test of your character by God.Pray, watch and relax.I would be praying for you too for divine direction.God will guide you through.

My advice is attend the 1 that comes up the 1st, the one closest 2 ur current location, the 1 that will cost u less, the one u feel more comfortable with.

As 4 me, go 4 d NB then if its possible 4 u 2 make it to PH 4 Halli fine but if not, relax and believe on God 4 NB. All things works 2geda 4 gud....It is well wit u. Cheers!

You really need to pray o, make the two no fizzle out.
But if you ask me, go for Haliburton, call your pastor and then join faith to pray together so that it will be successful. Afterall all u nd is ONE REAL GOOD JOB-never two.
Don't be carried away, my candid advise go for Haliburton...a settled mind can reason and respond intelligently than one that is confused up with another interview in another state.

i have read all the posts above.
In these days of high uncertainty, i would advise you attend the NB interview, then book a flight out of Lagos between 10 - 11am.
Arriving late for Haliburton is better than not attending at all.
The high cost of this venture i believe would be worth it at the end of the day.

Since we have at least 2 choices (assuming we don't get another call :) ), I suggest we consider and ask ourselves some questions
1. How comfortable are you with facing either interview panels?
NB-management kinda stuff
H-cement pumping kinda stuff
2. What kind of job do you see yourself at in the next 2-3 yrs?
NB-more like 9 to 5 (under AC) kinda job
H-more like full 24hrs (under sun, moon and ocean breeze) kinda job but with half the month free
3. How long do you even want to work?
If a full career like 5-10yrs, then its prayer and fasting time, to help land the fulfilling job.
If a few mths then either will do.
4. Emoluments and employee Welfare-Likely a moot point since I believe both jobs will be rewarding. Initially I think NB would pay more than H for the particular postitions we are considering. Then again rate of promotions, variety of internal movements etc could change all that in a matter of months. However, it wont be bad if the house can help us with other coy details that could help make a strong decision.

I go weigh both companies and the position they are offering.
"Shift Packaging Engineer" and "Assistant Cement Operator"
and in terms of their present/later package.

since NB comes first, is a wise thing 2 take it serious. (xpecially if u based in Lagos)
and as advised by others, U can board a flight to PH if d cash dey oh.. and still notify halliburton of the possibility for U arriving late.

@Tripple-C; Many words have been said. My opinion and advice: Seek the face of God and pray for His help. It transcends ALL human understanding. I bet it U'll came out with a BIG smile when u follow God's leading.

Triple C, i just looked closely at the time and time scheduled for ur test/interview.

Really don't think it is a dilemma, it is pretty simple. I would suggest you go for the NB test on the 222nd and you may leave for PH that day for your Halliburton Exam. At least with that 2 of the 3 would have been settled, and if you were eventually called for the second stage of the interview by NB, you could go there after your Halliburton test. You never can tell you might be attended to.Is all about favour.

Every thing will definitely fall into places i tell you.
