Job Description
A Reputable Oil & Gas Firm in Rivers, requires the services of an experienced and qualified individual to fill this role.
Responsibilities:
The Electrical Discipline Engineer is responsible for the following on the project:
To provide in depth discipline expertise to the SODA Projects Team concerning all aspects of Electrical engineering through front-end engineering, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning and start-up.
To ensure compatibility with the overall system process design, and cost effectiveness in the selection of the equipment, in order to minimise life cycle cost while delivering on schedule.
Make inputs at the different phases of SODA, DomGas and Pipelines projects on all aspects of Electrical Engineering (e.g. equipment selection, definition of power generation, transmission and distribution requirements, electrical drive systems, control and monitoring requirements, earthing and lightning protection).
Identify & Specify electrical power requirements and develop electrical system philosophy; define power sources, network configuration and the main transmission and distribution systems. Define system parameters and control philosophy.
Review SODA projects electrical engineering deliverables and provide discipline inputs as specified in DCAF, ACAL, and Manual of technical approvals.
Contribute to the development of equipment specifications for plant reliability, availability and optimization in engineering design and ensure compliance with specifications and Client standards during equipment procurement and FAT.
Ensure compliance to design specifications, local regulatory requirements, applicable Client standards and specifications and capture deviations during project engineering design, construction, pre- commissioning and commissioning of SODA facilities;.
Ensure that the Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) is applied during the SODA projects execution.
Contribute and partake in all technical and Safety audits and design reviews (e.g. HAZOP, SAFOP, peer reviews, design reviews etc) to ensure compliance with legislation and Client global policies, guidelines and standards.
Review the spare parts (insurance and operational) for all relevant electrical equipment and power supply systems based on system availability requirements and in line with the approved philosophy.
Develop technical contract specifications (electrical aspect), and participate in technical and commercial bid evaluations, contract variations and disputes/claims as might be required.
Provide support to Technical Authority (TA2) in SODA projects and expert inputs / advice.
Deliver Electrical Safety Critical Elements (SCE) and Integrity envelopes during project execution and operate phase.
Provide expert technical advice to approving authority on technical dispensation / non-conformance.
Contribute electrical expertise towards achieving Flawless Project Delivery (FPD) for SODA projects.
Maintain frequent contact with the Client Electrical Engineering community in order to keep abreast of developments in Electrical Engineering technology, as well as disseminate and imbibe best practices.
Provide support for corporate Electrical Engineering initiatives.
Coach and mentor sub-ordinates and ensure that sub-ordinates have personal development plans.
Qualification and Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer with at least 10 years post graduation relevant electrical engineering experience in the Oil & Gas / petrochemical industry, particularly in the areas of engineering design, construction, commissioning and start-up of electrical engineering related equipment and installations.
At least 5 years experience of working in a similar role on a major project.
Broad knowledge of the other disciplines such as process, technical safety, instrumentation, control & automation, mechanical and civil/structural engineering will be an advantage.
Demonstrable experience in technical clarifications, equipment specification, inspection and testing major electrical engineering facility.
Working knowledge of the Client DEP system, and familiarity with appropriate International Standards.
Working knowledge of SKM Powertool for Windows (PTW) is an added advantage.
Experienced with the requirements of HAZOP, SAFOP and FIREPRAN studies.
Capable of managing the link between Contractors and the equipment Vendors /Manufacturer to ensure that the facilities are built in compliance with Client Group standards and Client HSSE policies.
