Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
I laugh, First class abi, I'll like to know the difference between 4.49 and 4.5, I really need to know if there is any difference?
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
Of course, there is a difference, the difference is 0.01.
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
0.01 abi, I laugh again, A student whose CGPA is 4.49, as far as I am concerned is a first class material. 0.01 is insignificant and infinitesimal as far as this is concerned. Some students are denied first class by wicked lecturers so let us look at all sides of the story. WHAT A FIRST CLASS GRADUATE CAN DO, A SECOND CLASS UPPER GRADUATE CAN DO, EVEN BETTER!!! Comprehend

You are right, Brotherly. I was only pointing out that there is indeed a difference. I think you can apply stating your CPGA. The difference is truly negligble.

Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
Dat 0.01 is a big mark cos it does nt fall frm heaven.it can push a 2.2 to a 2.1. 4.49 is a strong 2.1 and 4.5 is a weak ist class.

0.01 is a big mark cos it does nt fal frm heaven.it can turn a 2.2 to 2.1. 4.49 is a strong 2.1 and 4.5 is a weak ist class.so if ur lectures denied u dat point it is a big deal.

Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
A time is coming in this country when 2.1 graduates will no longer be qualified enough to get a job.
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
@brotherly, i can feel ur pains but be rest assured dat u're not d only victim.
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
Engr. Ann, You do not get my point. 0.01 will not and will never fall from heaven. I AGREE. My point is this, I tell you what happened in the late 90's in a University in Nigeria. Two students from a particular engineering department were to be given a FIRST CLASS grade. The department disapproved it. The simple reason was that there has never been a first class in that department. These boys went to court. It took the High Court to rule in favor of the student that they be given the first class before they were given.
Now they had money to go to court abi, what of those who did not have money to go to court. They will leave with 2.1 and be faced with this kind of limitation. My brothers, I believe that those who even decided to the criteria for this recruitment did not make a first class. So as I said before, Let us look at all sides of this story. There are better ways of testing intelligence. Examination has never been the true test of knowledge. Be that as it may. The decision as to who they will take is theirs.
Solomon1king, thanks for your post, I'll like to let you know that I am not in pains at all. I am just airing my view. I am not a victim either. My certificate is not for restricted to any one company. If Dangote no take me, took bad. THEY JUST LOST AN ASSET IN ME. Other companies are there.

Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
If you can't apply for this, i think you can apply for management trainee dat requires other grade also. Guys be wise.
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
I dont care if they need 1/2 class, i am applying for this job.......nonsense pple. there is no harm in trial
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
Half class abi, Maybe First class UPPER... I laugh again
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
If our own indigenious firms can go this mile what do we expect others to do and they say things will get better with the promotion of local content. Naija we hail thee!!!

Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
In the field of engineering ,we can't count up to one thousand Graduats having FIRST CLASS throughout the federation in every section. The management of Dangotecement should therefore answer whether he/she has second class upper for his/her first degree let alone first class. In my school,we were 137 students in d dept of Mechanical and only 22 graduated with 2:1 . NO single FIRST CLASS. Are you saying dat those guys shouldn't get a job?

Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
Wonder y u guys are all disturbing urself with this Dangote of a thing. Dangote does not pay it trainees for this trainee program more than 25K except it has changed. the only tin u gain is that u have free accommodation.

no bro, the ones recently employed are collecting 80k with free accomodation though they wer required to sign 2 year bond.

Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
I just hope they are true to this recruitment. The level of unemployment in the country is alarming.
-
Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
Imagine 80K for 1st class graduate in Engineering!!!Not sensible at all.equating to approximately 320pounds per month. Nigeria is messed up. A fresh Engineering graduate irrespective of grade as far as u can defend urself gets an average of 1800 Pounds per month.

Re: Dangote Cement PLC Graduate Engineer Trainee Programme
I don't know why you guys are just bothering yourself about this Dangote recruitment. Since they have stated their requirements, lets those that have what they want, apply for the job. People like us with a good 2.1 and with good experience in the cement manufacturing industry would have thought Dangote Cement recruiting, as a perfect platform to contribute what we have learnt and experienced over the years but with they requirement, we become ineligible. So, lets all let it pass and pray for God to give us our own jobs. Cheers!

@Brotherly, if i use thesame argument, i would ask, "what is the difference between 3.49 and 3.5?". also i would say, "what a 2nd class upper can do, A 2ND CLASS UPPER GRAD CAN DO EVEN BETTER!!!". summing it all up, I would say, "WHAT A 1ST CLASS GRAD CAN DO, A 2ND CLASS LOWER GRAD CAN DO EVN BETTER". how true is that? u see y a difference of 0.01 is much? but as xandro101 advised, if u do have that kind of CGPA, state it.

Denass, you just made start laughing again. Good argument I must say, I commend you. Permit me to broaden your scope of view. Bust as I said before, education is not the true test of knowledge. I have see 3rd class graduates thread where first class graduates DREAM to thread. I have seen second class lower candidates out perform first class graduates.
Whats my point, restricting the applicants to first class graduates only is not an encompassing approach. Some graduates were denied first class out of share wickedness of lectures. They say, "I DID NOT MAKE A FIRST CLASS SO YOU CANNOT MAKE A FIRST CLASS" God help us.
First Class: 4.5 - 5.0; 0.5 Range
Second Class Upper; 3.5 - 4.49; 0.99 Range
Second Class Lower; 2.5 - 3.49; 0.99 Range
