Re: Comments on Shell Test
@ okenwe, the only reason i have answered those questions more than once is because i have written schlumberger, lng and shell test before.
I have been trying to find those spatial questions even if just the sample ones so i can post but to no avail.wud sure post it if i find it before the end of the shell tests.

Re: Comments on Shell Test
see attached a guide on the STS5 spatial checking. usually the examples are simpler than the main questions bcos of the way the figures are rotated or mirrored images of the master figure

Re: Comments on Shell Test
Hello house, Pls guys ensure you don't get too comfortable b4 starting the spatial.... Honestly, i ve not been able to come online because of d dazzin dt i received.... Even as you practice wit this info, i advice maintain an open mind.... Also, among d 4mirror images, 1 is mildly twisted so you can use it as your guide.... As par my fate, na God hand e de

Re: Comments on Shell Test

Re: Comments on Shell Test
@imunest, the answer to your question about gate crashing is yes.on wednesday (11am batch) four of my friends and some others who were not invited were allowed 2 write the test.after the test their names were added to the data base.so you could always give it a try, GATECRASHING IS ALLOWED but the condition is you must have a 2.1 if you are not from niger delta.
Got an important info from a reliable source in shell that the cut off mark is always 70%.also heard that they would finally shortlist like 50 in each discipline for the shell day programme and 10 of them would finally be appointed.in all about 100 (tops) would be appointed.we have done our best, lets leave the rest for God.

Re: Comments on Shell Test
I doubt if anything similar to the spatial checking test of shell can be found in any gmat textbook. It's purely SHL and those type of questions are not made public on any website.
The four examples that precede the main questions are on page 15 of the shl guide document that I attached in my earlier post. For those yet to write the test, just have it in mind that the spatial checking tests your smartness, and u av to be really smart to answer at least 25 out of 40 questions correctly within 15 minutes.

Re: Comments on Shell Test
@Sharkskin, 70% what? i hope it's 70% of the attempted questions!
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
@toluluck thanks for your wholehearted comments.
someone just gave me a little clue in the numerical question
@house- please can those who have written the test comfirm these.
Departmental Time Usage
He said there is a table with values and a question like
- On average how many more hours were worked per employee in Marketing than in Specifications?
in another table he said he saw a question like.
-what percentage of the population in Brazil own both cars and telephones?
is there any question like that.
thanks all, with God all things will surely become possible.
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
@Col Umar, according to the info i got, if you had up to 70% of the total questions (which i think is 95) you are in safe waters.so its 70% of 95...do the maths
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
@P4E- d answer to your question is yes. Although i sincerely doubt wat that 'd contribute to your prep. I hope u re not going to be lookin for those questions.... Jst in case, in dt Brazil table there's a question on how many indians use cars if it's one indian to car.... But lyk i said in one of posts, having these kinds of info only unsettles one when d exam is about to start.... Trust me on this. Guy, d numerical is cool if u ve had enough practice....
@oilprince- honestly i doubt if you 'd ever ever get any practice question that 'd get you in shape for d test, because that material is proprietory SHL stuff.... D best you 'd get re d 4examples that is used to introduce d stuff.... I suggest you find ways to sharpen your eyes.... Like using razors to get em' razor sharp.... Lol... This SHELL spatial na ogbonge

Re: Comments on Shell Test
Honestly i am amazed seeing how pple are dying for d Test info.
Guys, the truth about Shell test are as follows:
It is not how many questions you attempted that matters, it is your accuracy level.
Even if u see d questions before, never get too comfortable bcos there might be(in fact there are) some tiny twist that except u r ready to resolve all d questions, u may just be plotting ur downfall.
The STSS is a gimic thing.Trust me, someone with just 10/40 is a better candidate than anoda with 30/40.
(As urself why? but that is what d STSS is all about).
Meanwhile dont think d Shell HR are not seeing ur posts here. You can be shocked that if u post a life question here they will twist d main exam for you. Imagine u being d HR spy man. They ve got one u know.I can tell u this authoritatively.
Someone said 100 per discipline?Lol. Not sure of this oh. Only shell itself decides on how many people they want to invited.
Gate crashers are allowed but dont bother if u do not have an existing online application.Except they changed their mind.
As per 70% pass mark! This is very untrue. No pass mark in d Shell exam. They only profile ur scores, decide what percentile they wish to cut off from.Again,
The bottomline is 'dont get too comfortable, the questions are very very tricky' imagine 'how many more yrs' qtn for a qtn tha is usually 'how many years'. So loose d 'MORE' word if u r not careful.

Re: Comments on Shell Test
jpp, that na why i gave out my email. [email protected]
their spy cannot access it.
but up till now nobody respond.

Lugar, notin yet, but "toluluck" said the sample of STS5 is on page 15 of d attached "shl guide" page 4 of this thread.
anyway sha,
God no go allow our eyes turn 360 4presidential.

Re: Comments on Shell Test
Oilprince- my friend, relax.... Jst keep practising wit d SHL materials for d kind of numerical and verbal.... And to maintain a high level concentration for d spatial.... Guy i tell u this over and over again, any slight info 'd get you overconfident..

@jpp: I truly agree with you and contrary to what @Sharkskin earlier posted, I don't think they will use 70% as cutoff.
There were a total of 93 questions: 32 verbal, 21 numerical, 40 spatial. 70% of 93 is 65.1
So that implies that one must get approximately 65 questions correctly out of the lot attempted. I really don't agree with @Sharkskin on that.
This is not based on sentiment that I couldn't answer up to that. In fact, I answered 63 questions in total out of which I'm very sure of at least 60 accurately. So what is our fate... ??? I still believe strongly that I will be successful in the test cos the cutoff CANNOT be placed above me (my score).

Re: Comments on Shell Test
@Onisokien you name sounds Rivers and you seem to have written the test. Did you write it in Lagos?
@ALL one cannot steal what belongs to him just relax and pray all things will work together for good. Cheers and Goodluck Jonathan to every body

Re: Comments on Shell Test
gzl,
bros i beg u. Go prepare for SRD oh. That u can do assured 60 means u ro good to go.
Trust me. I know people with less assured qtns but didnt widely shade but now made it to d shell village.
Oilprince, u need my opinion? if yes, then i will want u to go relax and pray to God for speed and accuracy. But accuracy is more important sha. I can bet u authoritatively that u WILL not find what will give u a big upper hand against others. Even if u are given 10hrs open book for the verbal and maths, u will be shocked that u cannot finish and if u do finish, you may not get 90%. Bcos, it is very dificult to tell d difference btw 'FALSE and CANNOT SAY'. So you will be better off practicing 1000qtns that teaches u why an ans is 'FALSE and not CANNOT SAY. Go and answer d 2010 online SHL and tell us how much u scored. That will build ur confidence level.
Again dont think d HR are foolish to know that since u dey write at a latter date, u no go go seek choks. Any choks shud be posted here. Asking people to send u PM means u r somewhat interested in passing alone.
So go read and stop asking for qtns. Except u still insist on getting urself confused.
A word is enough for d wise broda.

@Sharkskin......why are you giving us spurious gist?
@JPP................i like your analysis, tell me why God no go bless you? correct guy!

Re: Comments on Shell Test
@ COL umar, i only thought i should share an info i got from my source.if you call it spurious only time will tell.Do you think i said it just 2 scare people. it might be their policy but it could change.lets just keep our fingers crossed. All the best people

Re: Comments on Shell Test
Why dont you guys just apply common statistical techniques you learnt in school. Are you telling me that if no one scores above 70% no one will be shortlisted for yhr SRD. That should only tell you that the cut off will be based on overall perfomance of all test takes.
If you noticed on the answer sheets there were different examiner boxes. One of these was caption percentile. if you remember your statistics well then you would understand that 70th percentile maybe all those who scores over 50%. It could as well be 40 or 60% all depends on overall performane. I hope i made sense

Hello House and those who had taken the shell test, does it mean the verbal format is " TRUE, FALSE, CANNOT SAY? Thanks to all who have been contributing. One luv.
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
@oilprince: when is your test scheduled to hold? I go really like to hear your comment after the test ???
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
Hmmm!! The bitter truth about all these Oil companies is that they are not merit driven. Even if you smash all their tests and interviews, you won't get there without knowing a top manager. Take it or leave it, the truth has been said. There is no harm in trying anyways. All the best @y'all.
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
since HR guys are watchin i will probably not be revealing much
buther is a fact dnt be rotating the copy jus cos it differs from the master, it waste more time rada, look at the individual components as dey follow each oda dat way u can spot the error quicker.
Also i fu probably see d error it is d error dont go checking evryoda component jus shade n move on
lastly 0f the forty questions 10 always have a long member shorter, and except for one master variants no components has two errors.

Re: Comments on Shell Test
Who knows anythin about SEAWELLS Consulting test format... i've just bn invited for an online test....
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
@ Ufoma, do u think Shell will give exactly the same questions that was given to Lag candidates to PH candidates?? I dont think so. maybe the spatial could be the same, but as for the numerical and verbal, i'm sure that shell has different variants, same no of questions and same time allocation. The HR guys already know that some pple with camera brains in lag will download all the verbal and numerical questions to their friends in PH immediately after the test.
Again, the major prayer is that when the decision for the cut-off percentile is being made, that it should be less than one's score. Don't be surprised that the exam scripts were marked rit in the hall immediately after the exam.....so it should not take more than a month to hear the results
We shall make it because God pass them all, especially "man-know-man" people
-
Re: Comments on Shell Test
@Samtex: I'm a Nigerian quite alright and I know what goes on in this country like everybody else but to say that all these oil companies are not merit driven is untrue. Perhaps your statement about not getting the job by smashing their tests and interviews without knowing a top manager was an exaggeration, but it is false as well. I do know that influence accounts for the majority of jobs in Nigeria but that doesn't mean that people don't get jobs based on merit only. Samtex, I dare say that if you 'smash' this shell test and the SRD, you'll definitely be a Shell worker bcos there'll be no denying you. Let's try to improve our mentalities so that we don't always go in search of influence and relegate merit to the sidelines. By exalting influence above merit, we further kill the Nigerian system.
Wish y'all the best!
