Role Description: Joint Venture Accountant - SA020 in South Atlantic Petroleum

Reports To: Manager, Accounting and Reporting
Key Roles

The Joint Venture Accountant will take ownership of all Finance related reporting obligations in all the company's JVs and drive compliance in a timely manner. Critical to this role is the ability to absorb a large mass of data and deploy integrated processes that ensure SAPETRO companies meet their reporting obligations to Partners, Host Governments and Communities under each JY.

Accountabilities


  1. Maintain JV Accounting Ledgers for all Assets.


  1. Prepare monthly Billing Statements for Operated Acreages.


  1. Prepare monthly cash calls for Operated Acreages.


  1. Prepare periodic Government and Ministry reports as required by governing agreements for all Assets.


  1. Review transactions for appropriate charges.


    1. Provide reconciliation between JV ledgers and General Ledger Accounts.




  1. Generate Balance Sheet


  1. Reconciliations for assigned accounts and review with GL Accountant


    1. Comply with month end time table for GL closure and Reports.




  1. Prepare monthly journal entries (JV related Accruals).


  1. Prepare monthly analysis of Current Accounts for individual JVs.


  1. Prepare reports to feed financial statements (variance analysis, etc.).


  1. Work on special projects, if requested.

Person Profile

  1. Minimum of a 2nd Class Upper University degree.


  1. Approximately 5 to 10 years experience in a similar position or Oil and Gas audit experience with a reputable multinational practice.


  1. Chartered Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CPA).


    1. Knowledge of SAP.




  1. IFRS experience is an advantage.


  1. Good interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills.


  1. Good team spirit.


  1. Strong analytical, multitasking and problem solving skills.


  1. Conversant with the use of Microsoft Office Tools.
