Vacancies at Rivers State Water Corporation
The Rivers State Government, through the Rivers State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development (RSMWRRD),has identified the immediate need to recruit competent and Suitably qualified professionals to fill top level positions in the newly established Port Harcourt Water Corporation (PHWC) and Rivers State Water Services Regulatory Commission (RSWSRC).
In addition, the Rivers State Government and PHWC are implementing the first phase of the Port-Harcourt Water Supply and Sanitation Project with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Bank (WB). This project will provide water and public sanitation facilities for approximately 1.5million residents in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas (LGAs). In order to ensure the successful implerrientation of the project, the RSMWRRD has identified the immediate need to recruit competent and suitably qualified professionals to fill various mid-level positions within PHWC.
Immediate opportunities exist in the following areas:


Manager Communication and Public Relations (ESOO45)

Job Specifications:


  • Reporting to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will directly manage communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect PHWCs reputation.
  • In particular, he/she will be responsible for the development, integration,and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the Corporation.
  • Formulate, implement and manage an effective public relations and communications strategy to promote PHWCs image and reputation.
  • Articulate the Corporations desired image and position, and ensure consistent communication both internally and externally.
  • Manage communication channels to facilitate effective stake Holder communication and engagement.
  • Maintain effective media relations in order to promote and advocate for the goals and activities of the Corporation.



Qaulifications:


  • A bachelors degree in Communication, Public Relations or any related discipline.
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification in Public Relations or Mass Communication will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience, with at least three (3) years' experience in a senior management position, preferably in a PR and Communications firm.
  • Proven experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations, activities.







Human Resources Officer (ES0046)

Job Specifications:


  • Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the following:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy and operating plans and ensure alignment with the Commissions corporate strategy and key objectives.
  • Develop and implement Staff Performance Management Systems.
  • Prepare staff career and deployment plans, coordinate the identification, analysis and audit of all reported or suspected compliance violations.
  • Coordinate the input of relevant staff data into HR Information systems, and Payroll systems for the purpose of facilitating the processing of employee



Qaulifications:


  • A good first degree in Human Resources, Social Science or Industrial Relations from a reputable institution.
  • A relevant post-graduate degree will be an advantage.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies such as CIPD or CIPM.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' human resources post-qualification experience in a reputable public or private sector organization in a HR role.



Managing Director I Chief Executive Officer (ES0042)

Job Specifications:


  • Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will provide effective leadership and strategic direction managing PHWC's operations.
  • An essential part of the role will be to identify' new commercial opportunities and drive growth across all business activities of the Corporation.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Corporation.
  • Develop and implement corporate business development strategies and plans in order to ensure delivery of quality services, customer satisfaction and profitability.
  • Create and develop commercial opportunities to increase revenue streams for PHWC.
  • Develop and implement a modern customer charter service in order to enhance service delivery to customers.



Qaulifications:


  • A' bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or other related disciplines.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and an MBA will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years' experience in a commercial environment, with at least five (5) years' experience at executive management level.
