Test invite from thisday newspaper

I was invited for a test in V.I on the 18th,Please who knows if its worth going cos am in benin

I wrote a test with guardian newspapers in 2010. There were 3 sections. 1 write everything that happened this morning from the time you woke up to the time you got here. 2 we were given a newspaper article and were instructed to correct the grammatical errors in it. 3 about 30 fill in the gap questions on events making the headlines at that time. After 4 months, I got an email from them that management was not satisfied with the standard of the test, so we would write another test. The second test was in 2 parts. 1 go to oshodi market and write on anything that interests you. 2 write a speech for the president on Nigeria's 50th anniversary. I never heard from them again after that test. They gave each candidate 2k after each test.

@WESERE, 567 dey them mama house o. I think the guardian stuff was rubbished because of battle for supremacy between some ogas there. The guy I submitted my scripts to after the second test told me something like that.

Whatever u do jst make sure ur write-ups or speech is entirely devoid of grammatical howlers thats just a core of journalism. Facts are also essential. Also be currently affaired. Lol. And if u ar writing or speaking display a good sense of lucidity and fluidity. Best wishes.

@All still no one has told us weda is worth it working for ThisDay and weda is worth it for these our brothers in Benin and Ph to attend d test from dia location and wat dia welfare in ThisDay is. Pls someone shld ansa dis questions for us b4 we make a decision.

@alagada. I am also writing the test. I will advise you to write the test no matter where your are. Just make travel arrangements. Media houses pay good salaries. I am also sure you will be posted to your state if you scale through. Its worth it. I dont have a job now, so I will be there gidigba.

@dimsho1. Its definitely worth it. I dont stay in lagos but I will travel there on saturday to write the test. If eventually its not worth it, which I seriously doubt, I will just assume I lost the tfare.

From the advert, it seems they are recruiting reporters/correspondents. But with this free for all tinz, I just hope we wont have to rent boxing gloves to the venue.

If d ThisDay exams will be a tug of war(Crowded) I will rather just forget it cos am far frm abj nw plus all d hassles one go tru to get accomodation in abj. Pls someone advice me b4 I finalise on my decision.

Yah! I just got D̶̲̥̅̊ mail, postponed till further noticed. I'm soo happy cos I have Nigerian Breweries exam by 9 a.m on Saturday. Trully D̶̲̥̅̊ lord is mγ̲̣̣̥ strength .

While we await d new date for d written test. Let's consider welfare for freshers at ThisDay and wat career path and growth is available. A fren dat works with NAN told me that the pay for freshers is 66k but that even though d paypack is somewhat small but that u will alwayz get money. He didn't say how the extra cash will come but he said is a mystery and it is only understood wen u r a staff.

66k is not a bad start. But the test must come first sha!

has anybody got any other mail from Thisday after they mailed us asking us to reply to choose our choice of test center?

I am yet to get any new mail. I hope they reschedule this test in good time.
