Hello, guys in the house, is there any development on the applications submitted,as in; aptitude test interview or something, you know wat i mean. anyone with useful information to this respect should please share it.

During the yuletide season, i stumbled upon an article in the Guardian newspaper (Appointment Section - The Pains, Gains of Human Capital in 2010 - Page 23) of Tuesday December 28, 2010 and would like to share this with you guys out there.

"While the other sector (the banking sector) is getting over its job losses challenges, many workers in the aviation agenciesoperating in the country may in the new year lose their jobs if the Federal Government accepts the recommendations of the Aviation Operations Improvement Committee.

Agencies that may be affected include the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NMA).

Although the recommendations were not disclosed, a member of the committee had hinted that one of the key elements was restructuring and rationalisation of workers to make the agencies trim and cost effective.

The rationale is that if the agencies were trim, their demands on aviation operators will reduce. This is because operators are said to be weighed down by the burden of of heavy taxes, levies, charges and dues imposed on them by the regulatory agencies.

Airline operators in the country had recently come to the brink of a strike action and she eventually set up the committee on April 21, 2010."


So there you have it. I don't know of what to make out of these but it appears we may have to be careful that we don't get our hopes too high whenever future applications are going to be set from these agencies.
