Dear Bishop,
Medical tests or "medicals" in the job recruitment process is usually the last stage before the appointment letter is offered. The essence of the medicals is for the employer to know if you are actually fit (physically and mentally) to perform well the job. The medical test also affords the employer the opportunity to keep your medical records, perhaps for future references. The test is usually carried out by a medical practitioner in a hospital in partnership with the employer and the doctor declares you "suitable".![]()
The actual tests that are carried out depend on certain factors such as the job function. Some the tests carried out include(but not limited to):
*Blood test (Genotype, Blood group, RH factor, and maybe HIV and others)
*Urine test/urinalysis
*Eye test
*Blood pressure (BP)
*Radiography : Here, you will be asked to remove your shirt/blouse in a secluded room i.e you will be stark naked from your waist upwards and you will be asked to stand in front of an equipment with your chest facing the equipment.![]()

*In addition, biodata such as your height and weight are taken.
After all these, you will be asked to meet the doctor one-on-one where you may be asked questions such as:
*If you are a smoker
*If you drink alcohol
*Illnesses and sicknesses which affect you from time to time(such as epilepsy)
*If you have any physical and mental disability
*If any of your family members suffer (or suffered) from any life-threatening diseases (such as stroke, diabetes, cancer, etc)
*Sexual orientation
If you are attending a medical test, I suggest that you tell the doctor the whole truth (only if you are asked!). Also bear in mind that majority of those who are invited for medical tests end up getting the job.
One luv
To God be the glory!
