Topic: Investment Research Analysts/Associates

We seek a couple of Investment Research Analysts/Associates to join our team in LAGOS to meet business needs for upcoming projects. Kindly note that this is an experienced research position.

Requirements: (This IS NOT an entry-level position)
- Must have at least TWO years of work experience in the Research Department of an investment bank, asset management, pension fund, insurance firm or brokerage firm and preferably have risen through the ranks of the company.
- MUST HAVE DIRECT experience writing research reports on companies IN PREVIOUS JOBS
- Stellar writing skills; writing samples will be required
- Knows that a career in equity research is what they seek and not still career curious
- Experienced in navigating through Excel
- Comfortable in use of MS Powerpoint in putting together presentations
- Great spoken English and comfortable conversing with clients, brokers and potential clients over the phone and in person
- Zest for challenge
- Dexterity with numbers (comfortable with thinking outside the box)
- Passed at least the first level of CFA preferred though not a must. Charter holders are welcome.
- MBA OR Masters in Finance highly preferred and sought

Candidates without prior equity research writing experience need not bother applying; this is NOT an opportunity for career changers

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Write research reports, equity comments and result commentaries on Nigerian companies from start to finish without favor or fear.
- Analyze annual reports and record observations for future use
- Listening in on conference calls and ask insightful questions
- Establishing relationships with companies under coverage
- Put together a detailed monthly stock market report
- Compilation of company data table and forecasts for two years
- Send out breaking news to clients on companies covered as and when necessary
- Meet with management to discuss company affairs on a regular basis and be comfortable asking tough questions
- Compile, analyze data and prepare reports on the mutual funds, pension funds, sectors and the fixed income industry
- Price discovery (fair valuation of companies); candidate should have prior experience valuing companies
- Oversee research assistants and work together to complete research reports


Any applications without prior equity research experience but work experience in non-research areas are beginners as far as investment research is concerned. Kindly take note.

Salary: Competitive, depends on relevant experience + discretionary bonus
