Job DescriptionAn opportunity exists to join a growing top tier investment bank lookingto recruit a talented and driven fixed income trader to lead the fixed income trading desk. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the trading and management of fixed income instruments (bonds and treasury bills), liquidity management and profit generation in the Treasury unit of a bank and on the two way market buy/sell side transactions.

ResponsibilitiesThe Trader will be primarily responsible for

• trading fixed income products
• managing proprietary and clients’ accounts portfolios in the fixed income markets
• providing market information to the firm’s Investment Committee
• ensuring the positioning of all funds within the right investment parameters and guidelines
• implementing sector allocation and security selection strategies
• ensuring all fixed income portfolios are managed effectively and in a consistent and risk-controlled manner.

Skills

• Must have strong fixed income skills, with experience in trading both bonds and treasury bills
• Ability to sell fixed income products to institutional clients in Nigeria (Asset Managers / Pension Fund Administrators / Insurance Companies / Banks)
• Generate profitable trade ideas both for the proprietary book and client portfolios
• Have a portable institutional client base
• Highly computer literate, with advanced spreadsheet-based skills
• Ability to work with great accuracy under pressure
• Strong communication skills and an effective team player
• Familiarity with quantitative techniques would be a benefit.
• A strong drive and entrepreneurial skill
• Must demonstrate ability to think outside the box and act independently

Qualifications

• Minimum of Second Class Upper Degree from a reputable university
• A Post graduation or professional qualification such as MBA/MSc, CFA, CIS, ACA, ACCA or other relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 - 4 years of experience on a Fixed Income Trading Desk of a reputable financial institution
