Hamilton Lloyd and Associates – Our client is well established in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Downstream sector and in the West Africa Sub-Region, acquiring respectable specialty in trading, marketing and distribution of petroleum products. Currently, they market 90,000 barrels per day of crude oil in the international market from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The company has a proven track record established over the last few years as importer and exporter of crude oil, Fuel Oil, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Naphta, LNG by products and other petroleum products in Nigeria and the West African Sub-Region. Their operational base is in Abuja, Lagos and Calabar in Nigeria and Accra, Ghana.
The company has decided to start the search for a Head of Finance for the company and the position will be based in Abuja.

Job Position: Head of Finance
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of the Company’s corporate strategy and plan
- Manage and coordinate the Company’s financial business including budget preparation, fiscal control, and maintenance of payroll data and accounting records
- Responsible for developing and implementing sound financial and fiscal policies including finance and accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee the development and implementation of Company’s trading, treasury & risk management policies and procedures
- Ensure accurate recording and appropriate treatment of accounting data, including processing of Accounts Payable, Credit & Accounts Receivable, Assets, Inventory, etc
- Ensure the clarity, accuracy, integrity and the timely preparation of the Company’s financial records, systems and statements
- Monitor organizational cash flow and liquidity to ensure the availability of funds required to finance the Company’s operations, business plans and budgets
- Ensure that appropriate system controls are in place to safeguard the Company’s assets
- Make regular reviews of the Company’s costs and expenses as well as make recommendations for cost management
- Plan and direct financial audits to ensure financial accountability and compliance with established standards
- Oversee the processing of Staff wages, emoluments, loans and advances
- Oversee filing of all tax returns as well as authorize tax deposits and payments
- Develop and oversee performance management system
- Develop policies associated with borrowing and investing funds with Banking and other Financial institutions
- Build and maintain relationships with Bankers and other Financial Institutions for the purpose of sourcing funds and negotiation of terms
- Manage relationships with external Auditors to ensure successful annual audits
- Define and monitor internal KPIs based on the Finance Departments strategic plan
- Approve training programs for staff within units.
Qualifications and Skills
- B.SC in Accounting/Finance or related discipline.
- ICAN or any equivalent qualification is a must.
- 7- 10 years work experience with at least 6 years in Oil and Gas will be preferable, and 4 years in a management position, 2 years experience in Trading, Treasury and Risk Management.
- Masters Degree or MBA in Finance is an added advantage.
