FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
  • Responsible for Financial Reporting, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Payroll of the resort.
  • Ensures that the resort’s books and records are maintained in a timely manner with the highest degree of accuracy and integrity.
  • Maintain the Resort’s financial policies, procedures, programs and schedules, based on the specific knowledge of the identified requirements, the established processes, the business systems currently in place and the projected changes to the future products, procedures, or services.
  • Review individual property and departmental statistical and financial data for fluctuations and trends. Research and investigate unusual or irregular figures or totals. Create and issue reports of the findings and outline the actions taken to exploit the positive and correct any negative trends and/or changes.
  • Builds positive working relationships with the operators, internal auditors, external auditors and the gaming regulators. Ensures all internal and external reporting deadlines are met and coordinates timely responses to document requests from internal audit, external audit and the regulators. Assures that corrective action plans are developed and implemented where needed.
  • Ensure the timely, accurate and complete compilation and distribution of all periodic reporting deliverables to the Resort’s executives and operational leaders.
  • Coordinates the compilation of the annual operating budget, capital expenditure plan, long range plan, mid-year reforecast, weekly forecast, etc. Work closely with department heads to assist them in meeting the Resort’s established financial goals and objectives.
  • Prepare periodic reviews of actual performance against prior year results and budgets. Develop procedures and policies to implement, track and maintain the budgets and closely monitor the individual department’s adherence to them.
  • Maintain knowledge on changing accounting standards, new best practices, reporting trends, new products and clarified regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the resort’s assets are protected, maintained, and utilized efficiently and effectively to maximize the return on investment to the Tribe.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required in order to meet the responsibilities of the position and for the Resort’s operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field of study; MBA preferred.
  • Approximately 2-5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting functions.
  • Strong background in financial statement preparation and analysis. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Strong background in financial/operational analyses, people/resource management, computer systems knowledge. Strong customer service, communication, managerial and organizational skills.
  • Must possess a broad knowledge of Accounting, Gaming Operations, Lodging and Retail Point-of-Sale Systems as well as the various Microsoft applications.
  • Some experience in internal audit is preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively mentor, coach, train, develop and motivate the various finance and accounting teams in order to establish the team as a well-respected resource to the operations team and empower the staff to add value at every level.
  • Strong customer service, communication, managerial and organizational skills.
