Dangote Group Recruiting Graduate Trainee Drivers! Wow!

Dangote Academy is a centre
of excellence for talent
development in Dangote
Group. It seeks to provide the
talent pipeline for the Group
while filling the industrial skill-
gap in Nigeria. The Academy
has just initiated a project
called, /he Drivers Academy"
which aims at recruiting and
training 2,000 Nigerian
graduates to become
professional heavy vehicle
drivers for the newly
established Super Fleet of the
Group. This initiative will assist
to uplift the operating
standards in road transport
industry, promote
entrepreneurship and open up
career opportunities.
Dangote Transport operates
an exclusive haulage business
to meet the transportation
requirement of the group with
a fleet of over 5,000 trucks.
Its activities include facilitating
transportation of raw
materials from the ports to
the factories and the
distribution of finished goods
to warehouse, depots and
customers across the country.
Graduate Drivers
THE IDEAL CANDIDATES
• Candidates should have a
B.sc., HND, OND or NCE
certificate (in any discipline)
• Not less than 25 years of
age
• Physically fit
• Responsible and mature
• No prior driving experience
required
BENEFITS
Dangote Academy in
partnership with the NITT -
Nigerian Institute of Transport
Technology, Zaria would offer
intensive training programme
to successful candidates on
safe and defensive driving, as
well as basic vehicle
maintenance and upkeep.
Other national road
regulatory agencies such as
the Federal Road Safety
Commission (FRSC) and Federal
Vehicle Inspection Office (FVIO)
will collaborate with NITT to
deliver a comprehensive
training package. On
completion of training,
successful candidates would be
issued with heavy vehicle
driving license and offered
employment in Dangote
Transport.

I don't know if there is any where in this world where they recruit graduate heavy duty truck drivers.

They do in advanced countries.

What u dnt knw is that as a heavy duty truck driver u are exposed to a world of opportunities and possibilities in the haulage and logistic industry such as becoming an entrepreneur, owning ur fleet of trucks etc in dis bouyant industry. Mind u Dangote is a multinational conglomerate. I thnk d problem is with our mentality. We jst so much believe in regular white coller jobs such as banking, telecoms, insurance, govt MDAs, and the likes which have made most of our graduates shld i say lazy, conventional, uncreative and lacking in enterprise. Here is a guy revolutionalizing and relishing an erstwhile recondite profession with professionalism and d sole aim of getting most of our unemployd graduates GAINFULLY EMPLOYED. And som persons cal it a joker. A take home word for those who oppose this briliant initiative is go to ur banks as tellers and marketers, go to ur telecoms as call center agents, go to ur insurance firms as underwriters. In 5yrs time u'll probably be seeking

employment from one whom saw d opportunities underneath this initiative and utilized.

The word DRIVER is making some people here having the perspective of a danfo or keke napep driver. Take note there is difference. A graduate driver trainee in dangote or some of this multinational company build the career of people professionally. I think dangote need a LEARNED or SKILLED people to carry out the job functions. Now my question is CAN A LADY DO THIS KIND OF JOB?

People, 'Hit the nail on the head' . I mean find out the pay package and let us know. If it is anywhere above 170k then it is good, considering truck drivers may not be engaged the whole week. And with a pay like that, Professional/Graduate Truck Driving will command respect. But men i hate to hear the blaring horn, PPPPHHOOOOOOOONNNNNNN.... It's deafening.

Guys...????I really find it hard to belive that some of us claim to be graduates yet we find it very difficult to recognize opportunities even on a platter of gold and shinning silverware!! ????I would urge anyone who really wants to work to apply without hesitation, now driving is an honourable job first of all, doing it proffessionally is even more graceful, it doesn't take the shine out of ur certificate if u drive and get paid heavily!! All dse abokis that drive trailers for individual owners make up to 250k per month cus ????I hv worked with them b4 and ????I know those that drive for oil companies take home abt 400k per month.one tin u all shd knw is that driving heavy duty vehicles requoires more skills and expertise and the drivers license is quite different from reguular vehicles besides one can gain experience and later work for an oil company or a logistic companies that pay well in the capacity of a driver and you won't be driving all month cuis u ll have ur schedules and once u have enough money one can get one or two of these vehicles for logistic transporting and believe me ur money don come, ????I want u to know that drivers of these vehicles are not much and they are always in demand for why will dangote want to train 2000 drivers? believe me he isn't foolish and he will pay heavily (for the fact that u are also graduates) to keep them to his company just to keep them from looking else where...guys wake up and grab ds, its a goldmine!! what career path will you wan't to build. if after few years and you wana opt out you'd just have a driving experience. don't allow any one no matter how rich put you in mid career crisis. so after graduating and your investments. on other certifications, you wana go drive GWONGRORO, just because a rich man says he'll employ you. I dnt knw whr sum ppl got thr info dat tanker driver r paid up 2 200k.i'm really familiar wt thse ppl and ma uncle even av a fleet of trailers.i'm very sure truck drivers r nt paid up 2 dat.nt even close at al.

@yemgaf, we're talking about grad drivers. What if they start with grad entry level pay and benefits, as obtained in other multinationals, wouldn't it be up to that (200k) or more? Do more research!

What if after gathering enough experience in the haulage and decide to set up ur own.
For me i don't intend working for someone or anywhere more than 10 years hence i establish my own enterprise.

This dangote job is either TAKE IT or LEAVE IT. If interested apply,if not don't. Atleast i have an info on how much friesland drivers collect, ova 100k plus bonus let alone dangote cement. I guess the job position is what scares people.

do u knw dat drivers earn wel? I mean illiterate drivers. A close relative of mine has trucks dat kari sands,stones etc to any eastern part of 9ja. Do u knw d drivers are paid 10k per movement? If he carries stones frm enugu to imo for 7 tyms, dats 70k! Each movement is 10k. At tyms they hv plenty work,that u do for a month. Dats upto 300k!

Seriously, its kinda weird for a young male graduate to do this job let alone of a female. . It would have been nice and more honourable if we are been trained to drive official cars and not this Heavy Duty Trucks i see on High way. .. Except he's planning to import brand new porsche trucks. Why cant he channel this initiative to Graduate management trainees and send the present truck drivers to professional driving academy? This men are best fitted for the job hence they quite understand the terrain and road network in Nigeria couple with their Driving skills and many years experience. I'm not saying this to discourage anyone from applying! Just saying my mind! ......
