Cinema, national development and role of scholars

The satire that played out in Edo State a few days ago makes this an auspicious time to talk about scholars and education. Mrs. Augusta Odemwingie’s failure to read her own attestation would have provided a full evening of entertainment if not for the very tragic underpinning. With teachers (and of course parents) like Mrs. Odemwingie, it is easy to understand why every other method except reading is a favoured means of scaling through exams. When the Edo issue is combined with the recurring ASUU /FG crisis you begin to understand that I have a very colourful tapestry to paint my picture.
