Best Search Recruitment is a partnership based company of highly experienced international recruiters with over 20 years industry experience. Our consultants are focused on locating hard to find talented individuals for reputable companies worldwide.
Our client, a global freight and logistics service provider wants an Assistant Accountant-Transport for its Lagos, Nigeria operations.

Description of the Function.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide financial accounting support to operations staff and the contract accountant.

Responsibilities.
General Responsibilities:
Financial accounting services for specific client contracts
Management accounting services
Group compliance contract performance reporting
Backup role for the contract accountant

Local Responsibilities:
Processing of business units related transactions
Assist with P&L management and preparation of weekly and monthly management reports
Assist with the preparation of business plans i.e. budgets, forecasts and integrated business plans
Management and reconciliation of contracts related balance sheet accounts
Group requirement compliance
Checking and follow up on approval of third party transporters invoices
Charge out of transport transit losses and damages and reconciliation of the respective accounts
Fuel revenue and cost of sales billing and charge out in line with laid down processes and procedures
Other responsibilities as delegated by the contract accountant and finance manager

Accuracy of data capture and processing
Timely submission of accurate balance sheet reconciliations
Quality of management reports
Achievement of reporting targets and deadlines
Compliance with the group and IFRS requirements
Accurate billing and management of transit damages and losses charge cuts

Strong analytical skills
Effective communication skills / interpersonal understanding
Achievement drive and initiative
Strong problem solving skills
Sound understanding of the key dynamics in the practice of business principles, fundamentals of finance and profitability
IT competence knowledge of either Sun or Oracle ERP systems will be a plus.
Achievement of reporting targets and deadlines
Forwarding / logistics experience is desirable
The ideal candidate must have relevant work experience (5+), school certifications and professional qualifications
