ICRISAT, a non-profit, a political, international organization for science-based agricultural development, seeks application for the post of Accountant in its station in Kano, Nigeria.

Job Title: Accountant
Requirements

• BA/HND in accounting, business Administration or related fields
• Through understanding of financial concepts
• Working knowledge of French will be an asset
• Ability to communicate in Hausa is added advantage
• Women candidates are encouraged to apply
• At least three years working experience as an account department or financial institution
• Experience working in an International organization or multicultural organization is an advantage.

Basic Duties:

• Bookkeeping and account record
• Banking and bank reconciliation
• Verification of payment vouchers and claims
• Invoice matching for goods received
• Preparation and timely submission of monthly statements and payment vouchers to ICRISAT Niamey
• Provide assistance for workshops/events and orientate clients on need basis
• Help to prepare accounting documents, data for audit exercise
• Interacts with NARS & NGO Partner for advances justifications
• Handle any other tasks and assignments warranted by the position or by the CR
• Banking, verification and preparation of vouchers to be paid m Naira/USD
• Verification and approval of petty cash disbursements
• Staff and supplier advances liquidation
• Cash receipt and disbursement
• Manage physical inventory of fixed assets and capital items
• Labor and payroll payments

General
The Position is nationally recruited staff position for one year and renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute’s continuing need for the position and availability of fund.
